Ten wise guys

Ten players who could be in the NFL right now but aren't. In other words, thanks for staying in college guys ...

1. Jim Laurinaitis, LB, Ohio State -- It's more about getting a degree (Laurinaitis wants to be a broadcaster) than chasing another national championship game.

2. James Davis, RB, Clemson -- Actually declared before wisely pulling out of the draft to re-form Thunder and Lightning (with C.J. Spiller) at Clemson.

3. Rey Maualuga, LB, USC -- A wild child as a freshman, maybe the No. 1 linebacker in the country as a senior.

4. Michael Oher, OT, Ole Miss -- How many guys have a book written about them before they get to college?

5. Darry Beckwith, LB, LSU -- The scouts love his pursuit. Playing behind another great LSU line Beckwith should have a monster year.

6. Malcolm Jenkins, DB, Ohio State -- Is there anything more pure than this?: "I don't feel that I've accomplished everything I can accomplish in college football," Jenkins said, "and there's still a lot for me to conquer and shoot for - the national championship, another Big Ten championship, the Thorpe Award. And I really look forward to the honors and perks associated with being a senior on this team."

7. Duke Robinson, OL, Oklahoma -- Get your tears of a clown puns out of the way, this great nephew of Smokey Robinson had an amazing 13 knockdown blocks against Miami.

8. Alex Boone, OT, Ohio State -- Boone is coming back to win an Outland Trophy, ahem, if not a national championship.

9. Macho Harris, CB, Virginia Tech -- This has to be a success story: Harris declared for the draft even though he was projected in the third round. Four days before the deadline, he pulled his name back.

10. Jonathan Luigs, C, Arkansas -- How does it get better after winning the Rimington Trophy while blocking for Darren McFadden and Felix Jones?

I love the buckeyes to death but i think that Laurinaitis and Jenkins should have left early. They raise there stock a little but Laurinatis would have been top ten to begin with. Jenkins would have been the first corner taken this year. Well its nice to know that education still matters with all this money flying around.

I love the OSU haters, proves how relevant our football program is. Hate on, nothing puts a smile on my face like 6 pages of weak smack from fans of inferior programs. One national championship, 3 BCS title games in 6 years ... unless you are fans of LSU or USC, your team's success simply does not compare. Yawn.

Buckeyes certainly need to take our lumps when it comes to comments on the last two national championship games...from SEC folks.  However, nobody from penn state should be allowed to comment on a revenue producing collegiate activity.  You might want to reconsider the comment on Malcolm Jenkins alone who was on the receiving end of more Anthony Morelli TD passes in the last two years than any nittany WR.

Is that why he is a consesus top ten pick?  Get better information.  He led the National Championship game in tackles.  Considering the fact that the Defense played the majority of the game, I think you need to reevaluate your sources.

The fact that Florida being so far down in the SEC rankings last year and Michigan (surprise, suprise) finishing second in the Big (read 'Small') Ten were both invited to the same bowl is yet another example of the fact that the sec is better and more respected

I did happen to notice that two BIG TEN teams were in BCS games.  If Michigan was the second best team in the Big Ten how did they miss out on a BCS game?  If Wisconsin was the Big Ten's 4th best team why did they play the SEC East Champ in a bowl game?  Was that out of respect for the SEC?

Give us your address and we'll send you a clue.

Laurinaitis all about the degree???

My guess is Laurinaitis is more about trying to win a national championship this year than getting a degree to be a broadcaster.  Have you watched Sportscenter lately?  Most of their "experts" are former players who I am sure have no degree in journalism.  Aren't you forgetting that he is in line to make millions first playing in the NFL?  There is a hilarious website about how Emmitt Smith can't string a consonant and a vowel together.

Give the guy some credit...he had 18 tackles in the title game and 12 were solo.

It is a good thing Penn State has never done any thing to make their program or the B10 look bad.

"JAMES"  Had a record 18 tackles in the championship game.  Put that in your pipe and smoke it...... you gotta be from Ann Arbor, not Florida.
