I've got a few emails about the C.J. Henry-to-Memphis story and wanted to clarify the situation as best I can.

The one thing people keep mentioning is how quickly this all happened, that it came out of nowhere. But I can honestly tell you this scenario was being bounced around more than a year ago. In other words, the first time I ever heard about the possibility of C.J. Henry and Xavier Henry both playing at Memphis was in July 2007. So while this might've all been finalized in the past week don't think for a second that it wasn't presented to the Henry family in some form for more than a year.

Anyway, the next question is about whether this guarantees Xavier Henry will sign with Memphis.

Probably not.

Kansas will always be a viable option because Bill Self is one of the best recruiters in the business. But it has forever been assumed by industry sources that Xavier Henry would play for the Tigers, and I can't imagine the fact that his brother is now expected to be in school at the UofM will hurt in any way. So again, guarantee is a strong word. But if you've got to bet a paycheck on it, bet on it happening.

Don't fool yourself, no one wants him unless they want probation! What a dirtbag! Only a coach as bad as he is could choke away the title game! He idiot! FOUL!!!!!!!!!!!!! FOUL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! What a !!!!!!! Can't coach his way out of a wet paper bag! Hey here is a novel idea, beat UT for once. Bet you lose again in Knoxville! Talk about a good coach, Pearl, now that is a coach. He doesn't sell used cars or lose in state games! HAHA

Should we talk about how Tennessee has failed to live up to their regular season hype in the tourney every year. I actually like Tennessee but I cant stand how their fans tend to think they have a better program than Memphis. How about choking in the game against Ohio with that huge lead. How about making past the sweet sixteen before talking about us. Tennessee has been a high seed the last three years and havnt made a mark in tournament play. Not one big win. Id rather choke in the national championship than in the 2nd and 3rd round. Memphis has not been truely upset since UAB three years ago. You all get upset all the time.If you are not a Jayhawk you really cant talk to us about choking.

My fellow Tiger fans, you guys need to lighten up on the Vol fans here. Understand their situation. Most of them only found out within the past 3 or 4 years that their school HAD a basketball team, so, naturally, they're newbies to the sport. Try to cut 'em some slack and give a little credit where it's due. And help 'em out with some of the nuances of the game. Like this:

To all my UTK basketball fan friends, your coach has done a spectacular job of making something out of the UTK men's basketball program -- probably something akin to making it to the Kentucky Derby riding a mule. He even had a shot at being selected Naismith Coach of the Year last year for doing so, but someone better beat him out. Oh, and since I've seen this misconception in about 90% of your posts, I think you should know that state championships are for HIGH SCHOOL teams. In college, teams play for a NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP. It's OK, I understand your confusion since you're probably way more used to watching your favorite high school basketball team than the UTK men's team. And another thing -- claiming that a team is better than another because they won a game against them when the other team outperformed them in every other category isn't going to make you look like Jay Bilas. For example, can you imagine an Oklahoma State Cowboy fan trash-talking Kansas fans about having a superior team? Neither can I, but, for some reason, I can easily imagine it from you guys. Anyway, good luck next year, and, seriously, whoever stole coach Pearl's Right Guard Antiperspirant -- will you PLEASE give it back?

OK, enough for Vol fans. Now to my Kansas fan friends -- good game. We obviously handed the championship to you, but you deserved to win because you were smart enough to take it when we did. That's part of basketball, or any other sporting endeavor, too. If someone hands you a win, take it. But don't diminish your own record of wins last year by saying dumb stuff like Memphis beat up on weak teams. Memphis' strength of schedule was #27. Yours was up in the 50's, meaning, if the teams we beat were weak, the teams you beat must have been anemic. It's not smart to be too critical of a team's accomplishments AFTER you beat them, but here I go talking to Vol fans again!

Give it up Rockytop47. Coach Pearl needs to first of all get to the national championship game before he even has the option of choking ! Keep up the smack talk you have nothing to back it up - nothing . Bruce Pearl is an egomaniac . When he gets over himself he may actually have a shot but i don't see that happening .

You didn't give it to KU, you got beat!!  Free throws are part of the game and just because you can't hit them, that doesn't mean you gave it away, it means you suck and can't hit the easy shots.  Quit haiting on KU because your sorry ass coach doesn't stress fundamentals throughout the year.  If you would have worked on free throws for 15 minutes per practice, you would have won the titltle.  That is your fault and that doesn.t count as giving it away, it just means you suck!!

This is why i hate UT fans, this is a perfect example of a typical UT fan. To say that we are the 3rd best team in TN is rediculous, have you lost your mind, who was in the Championship game this past year, i think it was according to you the "3rd best team in TN" hmm. Apparently you haven't been keeping up with sports lately, have you seen what Cal has done? Let's remind everybody that UT can't even get past the sweet 16 how about that RockyFlop!! GO TIGERS! I'm tired of all the ignorant UT fans!

are you kidding me?  did you watch any games that he coached?  I like the man and everything he did for the city, but no one has ever accused him of being a great coach.

Tennessee didn't make it to the title game, nor did any other team from Tennessee HAHAHAHAHAH

you can make fun of him and the results of a VERY few games all you want.  Not only has he put us on the map, we ARE the map.
