Xavier Henry, a top five national prospect  in the Class of 2009, was involved in a car accident Wednesday and will remain hospitalized overnight, his father Carl Henry told by phone.

Carl said his son "was feeling OK" but added that the 6-foot-6 shooting guard from Oklahoma City did suffer a fractured cheek bone that will keep him sidelined for at least two weeks. According to Carl, Xavier -- who is expected to sign with either Kansas or Memphis -- will have surgery on his face when the swelling goes down and then be fitted for a protective mask.

"He will have to play with the face mask," Carl said.

Meantime, Dan Wolken of The Commercial Appeal is reporting that Xavier's brother, Memphis freshman C.J. Henry, left practice "in a hurry" Wednesday and is now headed back to Oklahoma City. C.J. has been sidelined the past couple of weeks with a broken foot.

You are a loser.  Relax.  If you consider the cbs.sportsline writers journalists, you are clearly the one who needs to go to school.  Your grammar stinks, so that might actually be the case.  I was making a point and you clearly took it the wrong way.

While his injuries aren't bad.  This story obviously illustrates how someone can lose it all in the blink of an eye.  I guess the only really "big" part of the story would be that he's going to have play with a protective mask on..that can be difficult to do..other than that this probably isn't all that big of a deal.

Xavier Henry was going to an elementary school with a couple other students for a leadership program in the afternoon, sounds pretty irresponsible to me!

Another pair of irresponsible minorities running loose. Dad better get on their case before they wind up in prison.

Alright, although I do not agree that this is a big story, it is still however a story and there are fans out there that follow the teams that will be affected. ( Kansas and Memphis)  Thus making it newsworthy.  However that being said I think that as one comment stated already it is a great deal of over exposure, I mean the Kid isn't even in college yet and if it is not serious than it wont matter down the road.  Another fact that people are overlooking is the fact that his brother left school.  If it is not that serious why is his brother in such a hurry?  Well just some food for thought and insight.  All in all it is a newsworthy story that will have little to no importance in 6 months from now, but it did still need to be reported which just shows how are society over scrutinizes on todays youth.

If reading this was such a waste of your time, why did you even comment about it. I am thrilled to see that Xavier will fully recover. Broken cheek bone? Could have seriously effeted his vision and his life from that point on.

Xavier, keep up the hard work and lets see that KU turned into a UK!

Go Cats!

YankeesLover and VikesToTheBowl,

Go away!!! I am so tired of people declaring stories "not-newsworthy". Don't freakin' read it them. As a devout Kansas fan, I was very interested in this story. I love to follow the off-season stories that affect my team and players that may be on the team. Most KU fans out there are salivating over the opportunity to see this kid play in Lawrence. A 6'6" dribble-driver with a great fall away jump shot? We would rule college basketball with this kid on our team next year.

I am sorry that you have not gone to school, got a journalism degree, and worked up through the ranks to get a job writing for CBSSportsline. You clearly have a much broader understanding of what should and should not be reported. IF you don't like it, ignore it. For the record, were on their way to an elementary school as part of a leadership program, Henry was driving to an elementary program to take part in a leadership program. Keep your whiny comments to yourself.

Memphis and Kansas fans deserve to get news too.  In fact, that's why all of us log on to all of the sports sites.  We are looking for news on our team, coach, players and recruits.
