John Calipari became Memphis' all-time winningest coach early Tuesday.

Few hours after that, he won again.

"Next year I'm going to take my game to Memphis," Xavier Henry said at a morning press conference that was broadcast live on national television.

Henry is the nation's top-ranked shooting guard, a 6-foot-6 specimen who chose Memphis over Kansas to end a lengthy recruiting battle between the two schools that played for the national title last season. His pledge gives the Tigers a centerpiece to what is now a four-man recruiting class, and it'll allow Calipari to turn all of his attention towards John Wall (nation's top-ranked point guard) and Dominic Cheek (nation's third-ranked small forward), both of whom visited Memphis this past weekend and left many close to the program with the feeling that the Tigers might be on the verge of securing a class that could rank as the nation's best.

Here's an updated look at's top 20 from the Class of 2009:

1. Derrick Favors (uncommitted)

Nation's top shooting guard commits to Memphis

Thanks for all your praise and favorable comments.  We are really so happy that you love yourself so much!

We all hope KU has a great season this year.    KU has a rich and well earned tradition in collegiate basketball ... and just like Memphis ... you rightlfully have many enthusiasitic fans.   We also know that 99.9% of your fans are able to properly cheer and support your team -- while showing a level of reasonable respect for other great collegiate teams across the nation.

Memphis also has an occasion fan who's thrash talk doesn't even come close to representing the sentiment of our fans.   We hope you and other overzealous fans in the nation realize the immaturity of some of your senseless comments you make from time to time.

Enjoy, and Have a great season!

P.S.  I can guarantee you that when we meet gain ... Memphis will prevail with a solid Win!  Hopefully, we will both have a repeat opportunity soon.

Bluegray is an idiot........No way any Kansas fan should have "sour grapes". I am a Jayhawk fan and losing a recruit to Memphis is NO WAY anything to have sour grapes about. We just won the NATIONALCHAMPIONSHIP and would love to have a great player and its unfortunate, but not that big of a deal right now. I like the 25-75 recruits, the upside potential is great. If they dont pan out at the next level, just another bench player with potential.

X probably can't shoot freethrows in the clutch anyway and will fit in at Memphis.

S-P-E-L-L-I-N-G.  "We dont want you hear?" Glad to see you got it right the second time. I would be willing to bet that if he would have chosen KU you would have been the first to post "XAVIER WILL LEAD US TO ANOTHER CHAMPIONSHIP, KU #1!!!" But since he saw that there is basketball OUTSIDE of Lawrence, he is a punk and you are so happy he is not coming.  Give me a break.  I sincerely liked KU and respected the program until last year and the week before and after the championship game because of punks like you who run your mouth and act like they are in high school. Grow up, show some class, and act like a real fan because you are giving REAL KU fans a bad name. Oh, by the way, the last one and done led his team to the championship game and is probably going to win rookie of the year in the NBA.

Nation's top shooting guard commits to Memphis

As was posted before - this story broke on The Shiver - a new and credible KU blog. After the "shocking news" (it was to KU fans) was posted on The Shiver it appeared on other boards that Henry was going to sign that day. It spread to other boards and was later denied by Carl Henry and posted on many sites.

After Henry visited Kansas for late night the I believed X was leaning towards KU but that was not the case. His brother swayed his decision (even though Xavier and Carl said that would not be a factor). In the end it was. Memphis pressured Xavier to sign by telling him Cheek was ready to sign. It worked.

Memphis has a top 5 recruiting class. If they get Wall it will be #1. They are going to be a force next year. This years team looks good and will go far in the tourney.

Kansas missed out on Snaer because Self was waiting on Henry.  May have lost Cheek too. He also wanted to commit but was put on hold for Henry. Now Nova has made ground.

You claim to be intelligent do you? Memphis is a black city, take a minute to look it up you lazy SOB., Country music is in Nashville not Memphis, Memphis is  home to the blues and Rock and Rolls.  I bet you haven't ever traveled out side of Kansas and The Wizardof Oz doesn't count.

You should get your facts straight before you make yourself look like a back woods hayseed with that statement.  I have been to Kansas and  to Lawrence. Nice place to past on through.

He's not coming to Memphis, get of it. I still think last years game between Kansas and Memphis will be a classic. Be happy with that win.
