John Calipari became Memphis' all-time winningest coach early Tuesday.

Few hours after that, he won again.

"Next year I'm going to take my game to Memphis," Xavier Henry said at a morning press conference that was broadcast live on national television.

Henry is the nation's top-ranked shooting guard, a 6-foot-6 specimen who chose Memphis over Kansas to end a lengthy recruiting battle between the two schools that played for the national title last season. His pledge gives the Tigers a centerpiece to what is now a four-man recruiting class, and it'll allow Calipari to turn all of his attention towards John Wall (nation's top-ranked point guard) and Dominic Cheek (nation's third-ranked small forward), both of whom visited Memphis this past weekend and left many close to the program with the feeling that the Tigers might be on the verge of securing a class that could rank as the nation's best.

Here's an updated look at Scout.com's top 20 from the Class of 2009:

1. Derrick Favors (uncommitted)

2. John Wall (uncommitted)

1)  World Class facilities (both game and practice) - We have this little Mecca of college basketball known as Allen Fieldhouse

2) Chance to play for the reigning Naismith Coach of the Year - And ours has a national championship under his belt.

3) Ability to develop your game in an NBA style offense (in contrast to Self's, uh hem, pick and roll offense) - Last time I checked sound fundamentals is part of every level of basketball

4) Chance to become a legend in the eyes of the rabid Memphis fan base - A legend like say Wilt Chamberlain, Danny Manning, Paul Pierce, Jo Jo White... oh wait those are KU legends.

5) Chance to play in front of 18,000 people inside an NBA facility - Once again Allen Fieldhouse (sold out 111 games straight) and Sprint Center is right down the road

6) Opportunity to make deep runs during March Madness (2 elite eights and 1 Final Four during the last 3 years) - Lets see... KU 5 National Championships, 3rd in all time victories with 1943, 4th in NCAA tournament appearances with 37,  13 Final Fours, 51 conference championships do I need to say anything else?

7) Opportunity to play for a family like program where you will be pushed to the limit of your abilities. - Is this a joke? Every player at KU has access to any number of current and future hall of fame NBA players and staff. Not to mention that Chase Bufords dad is R.C. Buford the GM for the Spurs. Danny Manning is one of the coaches. Larry Brown makes regular trips to KU. Wait wasn't Calipari an assistant coach at KU, Dean Smith was a KU Player?!?!... wait was that Roy Williams with a Jayhawk sticker on his shirt during that Championship game?

It is amazing that we Tiger fans are the ones that can't get over the NC loss but you see KU fans slamming us! Congrats, you won and we lost that game. We all know that you wanted Henry just like we did and the conversations could very well be reversed based if the decision was for Kansas.

I respect the Kansas program for all the reasons you mention and the coaching staff at KU clearly doesn't agree with your one & done theory since they are prominant in the same set of recruits. This is where the class of the KU program takes a hit from some fans that try to represent their school. We WANT Wall and Cheeks and if they choose another school then it won't change the fact that we wanted them.

Grow up and relax. You have all the history and tradition to pull you through, Memphis just happens to have this recruit.

Coach - Self over Calipari

Championships - KU(5) over Memphis(0)

History - KU over Memphis in a landslide.  I won't even get into records.

The comparisons are not even close.  I'll give that Memphis has been good as of late, but the tradition of Kansas trumps Memphis.
