Sampson releases statement in response to NCAA

Posted on: November 25, 2008 5:00 pm

Former Indiana coach Kelvin Sampson just released a statement about today's NCAA ruling.

The statement, obtained by CBSSports.com, reads: “I’m deeply disappointed in today’s findings by the NCAA, but the accusations at hand are things that happened on my watch and therefore I will take responsibility. I am truly sorry that there were so many people who were hurt in this situation. For the sake of everyone involved, including my family, it is time to move on.”

It's time to move on alright, but if I were you and the idiot ahletic director, I would not "move on" anywhere near the state of Indiana anytime soon!  What a jerk.

I might also add that Sampson got a much stiffer penalty than either OU or IU.

Castiglione has hired a good cast .  Stoops immediately got rid of Bomar.  He does not put up with crap from any players.  You also may be too young to remember Bud Wikinson, one of the most decorated coaches ever.  Once the University knew what Sampson was up to, we put ourselves on probation.  Then, he repeated it at Indiana.  He has a problem with cell phones just as if anyone else could get a problem with any number of things.  Do not blame our University for this.  Once it was found out, we were proactive.  Indiana should have been proactive by never hiring him.  However, he is a great coach if he is playing fair, so I can see why they would take a chance on him.   This time last year they were a top ten team and where are they now?  However, as we get ready to play for at least a BCS Bowl in football, due to our proactiveness, we also have a top ten basketball team with the top player in the country.  We have forgotten about Sampson and embraced Capel who will be around for a long time.  Funny he has said he will stay here instead of taking coach K's job.  Get used to the Sooners being good in both sports again, and fairly at that!!!!!!!!

Gee...gosh....if I have to take responsibility.  What a joke!  He hurts two programs and still can't man up and take the blame.  He and Senderhoff (spelling?) both flat out lied to the NCAA (see their report) and he still is playing the poor me because I didn't do anything wrong card.  Be a man!

When you get cheating in your blood, it's hard to get rid of it. Oklahoma seems to be a cheater magnet. Maybe Indiana will choose coaches more wisely in the future.
