Notable game from Tuesday: A late 3-pointer forced overtime, and Kansas was on the wrong end of it. That's a lot different than last April when the Jayhawks rode Mario Chalmers’ buzzer-beating jumper to the national title. It's also the reason Syracuse took the CBE Classic title with an 89-81 victory, because Jonny Flynn sank a 3-pointer with 6.4 seconds remaining in regulation that sent the tilt to OT and allowed the Orange to pull away in the extra period, improve to 5-0 and almost certainly launch itself into next week's national rankings. Flynn finished with 25 points and five assists while Paul Harris got 14 points, 14 rebounds, five assists and a key block late that kept Syracuse within striking distance.
Notable performance from Tuesday: Luke Harangody got 29 points and 11 rebounds to lead Notre Dame to an 81-80 victory over Texas in the semifinals of the Maui Invitational. The junior forward made 11-of-21 shots -- including just the fourth 3-pointer of his career -- and even added two blocks and two assists, all of which helped set-up the showdown everybody wanted to see. Notable game scheduled for Wednesday: It's No. 1 North Carolina vs. No. 8 Notre Dame in the championship game of the Maui Invitational, which means we'll get the reigning ACC Player of the Year (Tyler Hansbrough) and the reigning Big East Player of the Year (Luke Harangody) battling in the paint in a match-up that should be about as good as it gets in college basketball.
