Miami (Ohio) point guard Kenny Hayes will miss the remainder of the season with a hand injury, a source close to the program told CBSSports.com.
An official announcement is expected soon.
Hayes injured his hand against Northwestern State on Dec. 6, then missed the Wisconsin-Milwaukee game before trying (hopelessly) to play against Valparaiso. He then missed Saturday's game against West Virginia, in which the RedHawks had 26 turnovers. The 6-foot-2 senior was re-evaluated after the WVU game, and a decision was made to sit him down for good, starting with a Dec. 30 rematch against Northwestern State.
Hayes was averaging 13.9 points and 3.8 assists for the RedHawks.

Miami (Ohio) PG out for the yearBad break for the Red Hawks. Miami has a class program and Charlies is a class coach. The RedHawks didn't have a whole lot this year and Hayes was the team's best player. Losing your point guard who is also your best scorer would be tough for any team. Thanks for the update Gary. Merry Christmas. |

Miami (Ohio) PG out for the yearVery very sad news for the team because they obviously miss his leadership but especially for this young man because he's a senior. Wishing you a great Christmas, Gary. |
