Minnesota lost again.

Da'Sean Butler went for 27 again.

Here's Friday morning's What You Need To Know :

Notable game from Thursday: After a tremendous start to the season, Minnesota is now floundering a bit. The 21st-ranked Gophers lost at Northwestern last weekend and backed it with a 70-62 home loss to No. 18 Purdue in which they shot just 27.6 percent from the field. JaJuan Johnson led Purdue with 19 points, eight rebounds and five blocks. The Boilermakers are now 15-4 overall, 4-2 in the Big Ten. Minnesota is 16-3 overall, 4-3 in the Big Ten.

Notable performance from Thursday: Da'Sean Butler took 18 shots, made 11 and finished with 27 points to lead West Virginia to a 75-58 victory at Georgetown. It was the second consecutive game in which Butler has netted 27 points. The effort pushed West Virginia to 14-4 overall, 3-2 in the Big East. The 12th-ranked Hoyas are 12-5 overall, 3-3 in the Big East.

Notable game scheduled for the weekend: Duke is merely a home win over Maryland from moving to the top of every reputable poll thanks to Wake Forest's loss to Virginia Tech. The Blue Devils are 17-1 overall, 4-0 in the ACC. They have wins over Michigan, Xavier, Virginia Tech, Davidson and Georgetown. Meantime, Maryland is 13-5 overall, 2-2 in the ACC. Tip-off is set for noon ET on Saturday.

What You Need To Know

Hey Parish, I don't really have a comment, I just wanted to make my first post as an All-Star. As always, you do a good job. The only thing I can say is DOOKE will only be part of the game of the week when they play the guys wearing the right shade of blue!

I despise Duke, so it pains me to correct you. Duke is actually 4-0 in the ACC. It's one of THOSE years.

What You Need To Know

I don't see Duke/Maryland as the game of the weekend.  UConn at Notre Dame is clearly a better matchup.  ND has the nation's longest home-court winning streak.  If UConn wins this game, they deserve to be the # 1 team in the country.  They have beaten 7 ranked teams (more than anyone in the country).  Duke is a very good team and an argument could be made either way....but a UConn win over ND to break the streak (after vanquishing #21 Nova on Wed) would prove a much stronger weekly statement than a Duke win over MD.
