Naturally, Wake Forest lost to Georgia Tech

I was genuinely considering putting Wake Forest atop the Top 25 (and one) .

Now, not so much.

Wake Forest lost on a buzzer-beater at Georgia Tech just three days after beating Duke on a buzzer-beater, meaning the Demon Deacons managed to beat the nation's top-ranked team (Duke) and lose to the ACC's last-place team (Georgia Tech) in a span of four days, which is typical, I guess. After all, we've already seen North Carolina dominate Michigan State and lose to Boston College, Louisville top Pittsburgh and lose to Western Kentucky, and Oklahoma beat Texas and lose to Arkansas.

So whatever.

I suppose Wake Forest beating Duke and losing to Georgia Tech in the same week makes perfect sense.

Why?

Because this season is crazy.

And Saturday served as another reminder.

Good point; I agree with your comment about Coach Dino and Wake's helter skelter late game play.

Naturally, Wake Forest lost to Georgia Tech

It's obvious to me and probably other students of the game that if Wake would minimize their mental mistakes in the latter part of a close game as well as take advantage of the bounce pass during the entire 40 minutes of each contest, we would not be having this conversation right now. Almost every passing turnover this year is a result of not using the bounce pass (Smith, Teague please take note). This is very fundamental stuff that can easily be corrected by Coach Gaudio in practice. If they improve in these two areas, then the Deacs seriously have a great chance to be national champions. They should have easily beaten Duke by ten points and won that close game at Georgia Tech ( probably the best 8-9 team in the country).

Naturally, Wake Forest lost to Georgia Tech

This is pathetic.

Wake is one of the best teams in the country, hands down.  They got caught with their pants down by a GT team which is not NEARLY as bad as thier record suggests.  Good teams get beat, especially in the ACC.  This is coming from a die-hard UNC fan.

Jumping ship on this team at this point is virtually inexcusable.  For the rest of you Wake fans who really have some pride in what is going on with your stellar program, we will forgive all of you the atrocity of this guy opening a new account to spew his immature hatred of "his team."

Grow a pair.

Naturally, Wake Forest lost to Georgia Tech

This is pathetic.

I hate to see this guy call himself an ACC fan.  His "former" team is still one of the best teams in the country, hands down.  Wake is a fantastic team.  And I'm a die-hard UNC fan.

Wake fans will justifiably be terribly embarrassed by this post (by a guy who opened a new account to post it).  Grow a pair.

Seriously the comparison of UL losing to Western KY is a total joke.   WF lost NOW, here in the present time, immediately after winning.    UL lost their THIRD friggin game of the season to WKU.    Many teams with new players drop a game or two early in the season.   They are currently on a 9 game run in the top conference -- a perfect January.   Hardly compares to teams currently STILL losing games.   Sure they may lose again -- even soon --- even Monday night.  But it will be to a top team, no the bottom of the league.   And if they do drop to the bottom of the league, then fuss about them.  But please, 2 month old history is just crazy.  There are NO teams that go undefeated from opening season to end any more -- haven't for 30+ years.

Naturally, Wake Forest lost to Georgia Tech

Having Wake Forest lose to G-Tech after a great game against Duke is definetly a testiment to how great this season of college basketball truley is. What I dont understand however, is many of the other posters in previous comments about the hard knocking games of the big east, and loses comming from unranked bottom of the Big East teams, made the Big East weaker. I have said, and still stand by the fact that I think the Big East is one of the top conferences in college basketball. I dont think georgetown(on an incredible slide) getting upset time after time is indicative of the weakness everyone has percieved. Or Pitt losing to a ranked Villanova, is a weakness.

Likewise, I also think that Wake Forest losing to g-tech on a buzzer beater is by no means a signal of how weak the ACC is, but more so is a testiment to how great college basketball is this year. In addition, I really think that Wake Forest has to sit down and evaluate how they close out games and learn to keep teams from clawing back. In the duke game, they were leading the entire game by aroud 7 points, and I believe 13 at one point, but managed to make the game a last minute buzzer beater situation by allowing duke to come back. I realize Duke is Duke and they have all the right tools in Paulus, schyerer, and Henderson, however The same was true in this game against G-tech, but I think much more evenly played throughout the game.

I dont know about anyone else, but I love a good upset, and I think that losses in both the ACC and the Big East are indicative of how difficult it is to play in either of those conferences. I dont want to sit down and watch a game that is completely one-sided. Obviously it would be great to see villanova go undefeated and win the national championship, however after awhile it loses its luster.

Gary- I guess you have no option.. UCONN goes to #1. As a big east fan, i dont like anymore then you do!

Wake lost because the ACC is overated

Your first sentence says it all....you were considering them for number 1....amazing.....because they beat Duke and they have 3 wins over top 10 RPI....put them in number 1?????......UCONN deserves it and they will be there.....Wake still has the 3 wins over top 10 RPI.....will you still consider them for number 1?........your basic premise is wrong...
