Posted on: February 12, 2009 3:11 pm

Blake Griffin is running away with the National Player of the Year award.

That's what the results of a straw poll conducted by Michael Rothstein show. The Fort Wayne Journal Gazette writer reached out to 55 media members from across the country (myself included), and 51 of them placed Griffin at the top of their ballot (myself included).

The top three in order were ...

1. Blake Griffin (Oklahoma)

2. Stephen Curry (Davidson)

3. Tyler Hansbrough (North Carolina)

Griffin leading straw poll for Player of the Year

In my opinion; the most notable player who's not even in the poll is Tyreke Evans with the Memphis Tigers.

Tyreke is coming on very strong,  just wait and see.   Soon it will be March Madness and suddenly some in the nation may notic

This is similar Last year, few knew or took serious notice of Derick Rose or CDR.   By Tournament time and during the Tournament, Evans may open your eyes.   We shall soon see.

Good luck to all the Great Teams and Players.

Griffin leading straw poll for Player of the Year

I think that Thabeet deserves a shot.  He might not be great on offense but he changes the way every team plays offense.  By the way I am a CUSE fan.

Griffin leading straw poll for Player of the Year

What's up with Meeks, the 4th leading scorer in the nation, coming in 10th?  He dropped a 54 spot on Tenn this season and he's 10th?  Ask the people in Florida if Meeks is the 10th best player in the nation this year.
