The rosters for the McDonald's All-American game have been set.

Take a look ...

(Status for next season in parenthesis)

-- East --

Derrick Favors (Georgia Tech)
Lance Stephenson (Uncommitted)
DeMarcus Cousins (Uncommitted)
Kenny Boynton (Florida)
Ryan Kelly (Duke)
Alex Oriakhi (Connecticut)
Dominic Cheek (Villanova)
Dante Taylor – (Pittsburgh)
Dexter Strickland (North Carolina)
Milton Jennings (Clemson)
Maalik Wayns (Villanova)
Peyton Siva (Louisville)

-- West --

John Henson (North Carolina)
Xavier Henry (Memphis)
Renardo Sidney (Uncommitted)
Abdul Gaddy (Washington)
Avery Bradley (Texas)
Wally Judge (Kansas State)
Mason Plumlee (Duke)
Michael Snaer (Florida State)
Tommy Mason-Griffin (Oklahoma)
Keith Gallon (Oklahoma)
Travis Wear (North Carolina)
David Wear (North Carolina)

Here are a few notes about the rosters and game:

  • John Wall, the nation's best point guard, was not eligible for inclusion because he is a fifth-year senior.
  • Of the 24 players selected, 21 are committed to a school.
  • Of those 21, nine have decided to play in the ACC next season.
  • The Big East has five of them and the Big 12 has four.
  • North Carolina has four signees in the game. That's twice as many as any other program.
  • Oklahoma, Duke and Villanova each have two signees in the game.

Kentucky ??

As a die-hard Kentucky fan it saddens me to see no Cat signees on either roster. There was a time when we had as many as UNC each year, but not recently. Daniel Orton and Jon Hood are both worthy in many folks eyes, but not the selection group. I realize that this is not necessarily a guarantee for college success, but there is a status to having a bevy of them.....

Rosters set for McDonald's All-American game

judging by the roster it looks like roy williams once again refuses to rebuild and simply reloads/stock piles the roster. 4 mcd AA to go along with davis, ginyard, zeller, thompson, graves, and drewII unc will once again be one of the top teams next year. coach k better step up....

Rosters set for McDonald's All-American game

And Pitt has a McDonald's All-American!  I wonder if he'll stick around like other Pitt players have tended to (except for Chris Taft).  I guess I should just hope Blair stays another year so we don't lose Fields, Young, AND Blair all at once.

Gary, what is the selection process?  I mean, what goes into the selection of the players.

Every year there are always players on the team that are head scratchers.  The Wear twins come to mind this year.
