Griffin still waiting to be cleared

Posted on: February 25, 2009 11:14 pm

Blake Griffin met with doctors again Wednesday and even shot a little, but the Oklahoma star still has not been cleared to return to contact drills or live action, OU coach Jeff Capel told CBSSports.com late Wednesday night.

"Right now we still have no clue (if he'll play Saturday against Texas Tech)," Capel said by phone. "It takes time, and we're not going to do anything to rush it. We want him to be OK before he plays again or before we even put him in a position to practice with us again."

Griffin suffered a concussion in the first half of Saturday's loss at Texas, then missed Monday's loss at Kansas that dropped the Sooners' record to 25-3 overall, 11-2 in the Big 12. The 6-foot-10 sophomore is the overwhelming favorite to be the National Player of the Year and top pick in June's NBA Draft, but for now he's still sidelined with lingering effects from a freak mishap.

"He's getting better," Capel said. "But it's a slow process, and we don't want to speed it up."

Griffin still waiting to be cleared

Seriously?  You can't even spell, "Basketball"!  Little alone ref it or play it.  I sure as hell wouldn't want you officiating any of my games.  You're right about one thing dime, I am going to support my local favorites.  Letting people like you post ridiculous comments questioning a 19 year old kid's integrity is a disgrace.  Sorry to hurt your feelings, that you had to post your resume online, but facts are facts, and yes, you are still an idiot!

Skins......Take it as you may......I believe you have interpreted my verbiage incorrectly.

I wasnt comparing a bar fight or punches to a college basketball game. I was comparing the SAME TYPE OF BLOW RECEIVED BY GRIFFIN. IMO, a perfect analogy. If you are hit on the bridge of the nose and down by a hand in a bar fight, a basketball game, or a tea party...the actual blow is the same. I apologize if I could not think of another blow that would repeat this procedure.......other than, the actual SAME BLOW. Not very hard, but in the right place, very damaging.

Although you may have not referred to him as a "wuss", I apologize for trying to put those exact words in your mouth. You didnt call him a "wuss", just indicated he didnt really get hit very hard so I assumed you meant he was soft.

Also, there is no intention to threaten you, not that it would bother you one way or another. I was simply offering an example. If we ever met, I would be happy to show you on any passer-by of your choice. Simply for further research on the matter, of course. Being a Kansas fan I have the upmost respect for North Carolina, it's truly wonderful wholesome program, crying Roy himself, and the intelligent fans like yourself and would never intentionally threaten anyone I hold so highly. Innocent

Lastly, I wasnt comparing the shot of Hans to Griffin's or even saying that Hans had a concussion. I believe you interpreted this wrong also. I was stating that if he was "dent proof" he would not have had a broken nose or a mask. Maybe I interpreted your term of "dent-proof" in the realistic sense that he couldnt be harmed...... my bad.

Good Luck and Best Regards.....

Griffin still waiting to be cleared

I saw the bumps he took. I saw how he reacted after. I saw how he reacted on the bench. I saw how he walked. I saw everything. He faked it.

CASE CLOSED !!!

Griffin still waiting to be cleared

I have neve played the game Halo nor do I play video games. Look, you dont have to agree with me. I call it like I see it and I saw a faker. I'm not gonna argue why he would do it because, it could have been many things and its completely subjective. However, I believe he faked it. I'm sorry you cant accept that opinion.

Ok you just keep telling yourself that "he faked it" with no real reasoning other than complete idiocracy! I realize everyone is entitled to an opinion, but man they should really make sense! All the signs on the bench show he couldnt think, see, or really focus on the game! In most cases, all it takes for a concussion is to have the brain come into contact with the skull... Thats it! Everyone has a different structure of how difficult that may be. Thats why big buff dudes that walk around like they own the world can be knocked the heck out all the same, and little dudes can stand victorious.... Question is whose got the strongest skull? that has zero to do with a mans physique ill have you know. Its because of the brain structure fool! Obviously your brain structure is a little different as well! There is nothing about it that makes any sense to just sit.... Smoke another bowl dik4

Maybe you have truly played too much halo and havnt watched what this guy is doing to opponents lately? Why would he want to just sit? Doesnt make sense for him to just sit, when he can pull a carmelo and get a ring in one year, up his status to the highest possible so he can get that dwight howard money! Sitting obviously doesnt help his team nor does it help him lock up a #1 in the tourney, and he is a beast too, so im sure he can take a blow or two? "yeah im sure he's just sitting, cause that makes perfect sense right

I'm gonna write exactly what I did to the last idiot with no Doctor's license: why would someone fake a concussion? It jeopardizes his team and his future to do so. Seriously.

I dont know why he would fake it but, I know a faker when I see one and that man was faking his ass off. I'm sorry if you dont like that opinion but, its not unreasonable to question a concussion when the man barely got touched. I saw the other "hits" to the head and they were all as weak as the next. There are many reasons as to why he would possibly fake it but, I'm not gonna speculate as to what those reasons are. Its pointless. HOwever, that man faked that crap.

Or are you one of those big talkers who thinks they could take that shot and have nothing happen? For all we know, the guy got whacked 10 times during the game. They have already identified three other shots to the head that Griffin received during the game.

Again, why would he sit out if he didn't have a concussion? His doctor's are the ones keeping him out, not Griffin himself. Are the team doctor's conspiring to fix games by holding Griffin out? Get a clue.

You're an idiot. Why on earth would someone fake a concussion and risk their team's season and their own professional livelihood? You don't know what happened. He could have gotten whacked numerous times in the game to add on to some blows in practice. Give me one benefit of the guy faking a concussion.
