Here's Friday's Dear Gary ...

Dear Gary: Congratulations to Blake Griffin (for winning the straw poll). I heard he is staying. Is that true?

-- Killac

Stay?

Stay where?

At best, Griffin will stay at Oklahoma for another six or eight weeks. After that, he'll be gone, and if somebody really told you otherwise you should stop listening to them. Forever. Because they don't know what they're talking about.

It's probably because he looks like a monkey. hahaha I'm from Oklahoma but I can still make fun of him. He's an awesome player and Taylor is actually going to go to med school so I have no idea where that came from. Undecided

Are you for REAL ???? Could you expand on who was on Sooner TV that said this? why haven't we heard anything about this the last few days???? I wouldn't be suprised if this is true, since so many athletes from OU have decided to stay 1 more year...some for the good some for the Bad.  Bradford should have left this year but he is staying....Questionable if this is good for him(great for us fans)...Ryan Minor should have left early (I'm going way back)--- A. Peterson could have and still would have been awesome (risked being badly injured). HOW GREAT this would be.........Gary, help us with this one ... it would be a great scoop if true.

Dear Gary (on Blake Griffin's future plans)

Blake Griffin is better than Michael Beasley, the Heat and Pat Riley did cartwheels to get him.

Griffin will definetely be in the NBA next year, he's a top five pick, he's akin to Carl 'the Mailman' Malone, runs the floor, scores and is a ferocious rebounder.

If he is drafted by a team with a great point guard and likes to run, like the Chicago Bulls, it would be a great nucleus with Derrick Rose and Ben Gordon

Ask me if Derrick Rose is still the point gaurd for Memphis. Ask me if Brandon Jennings plays point gaurd for Arizona.

Now ask me if Blake Griffin is going to stay in school.

The NBA beckons. Griffin is gone. Either that or he is an idiot. This is such a bad draft year (comparably) that even Tyler Hansbrough is going to get drafted, maybe even in the top 20.

Take the money. That's the reason we go to college anyway.

Dear Gary (on Blake Griffin's future plans)

Gary,

lol Thats what I thought, you have to understand I don't get cable so ESPN, ESPN 2 are out of the question.  I rely solely on what few games that come on basic cable during the week, stats and well my friends.  Everyone has that friend that thinks they know everything about everything and mine happened to tell me Blake Griffin was to stay at OU.  I usually just ignore his random sports comments, but here is why I listened:

Blake is good, but he also is 6'10, I sometimes wonder if his dominance is because of his pure size.  If he was Dejaun Blair's size would he still put up Blake Griffin, Michael Beasley, Kevin Durant numbers?

Will he be able to withstand the beating players in the NBA are going to put on him, furthermore will he be able to make free throws when he gets to the line? (58.7% career free throw percentage), that is the only number that did not increase in his short stay at OU

A number that did increase was his turnovers. Teams like Davidson, Tulsa, Rice, and UAB gave him problems in the post forcing him to at least 6 turnovers in each of these games. This stat surprised me considering each of these teams lack one thing... A DOMINANT BIG MAN!

I have never actually seen a televised game of Blake Griffin, and I wonder what would happen if he went to the Thunder.  Kevin Durant, and Blake Griffin would be a fun little duo to build a team around.

So you see Gary, it wasn't too out of whack to believe that friend...was it?
