And the next coach at Alabama will be ... Frank Haith?

It's possible, yes.

In fact, an industry source told on Thursday that Haith is interested in the opening, and that he'd absolutely leave Miami if presented with a respectable offer. Furthermore, the source said former Alabama coach CM Newton -- who is assisting the school in its search for Mark Gottfried's permanent replacement -- has privately backed Haith's candidacy, meaning Haith is a realistic option if for no other reason than that Newton has tremendous influence at Alabama (and in the SEC, in general).

Miami lost to Virginia Tech in the first round of the ACC tournament Thursday, ensuring the Hurricanes will miss the NCAA tournament for the fourth time in five years under Haith. Among the other serious candidates for the Alabama job is Missouri coach Mike Anderson, an Alabama native who has his Tigers ranked 14th nationally heading into Thursday night's game against Texas Tech in the Big 12 tournament.

much better basketball program than Alabama? a little biased are we? The programs are fairly on par with each other in the last 25 yrs.

Remind me which seasons was the Missouri dynasty when they won all those titles in a row? It slipped my mind.

I don't know why Anderson would leave Missouri for Alabama. Missouri has historically had a much better basketball program than Alabama, and the Big XII is a better basketball conference.

Frank Haith?? Come on he as an alright head coach at best, but Miami is not that good.  No tournament appearances in 4 out of 5 years.  He has had really good players at Miami.  Honestly he is going to get great recruits just because of the name on the front of the jersey.  If I was Haith I wouldn't go to a struggling program until I helped my own struggling program.  If I was Alabama I would pick up a coach they wouldn't have to fire in 3 years.  That guy would be Anderson.  Missouri has gotten better every year Anderson has been there, and now they are the 14th team in the nation and third in a conference they were projected to finish 7th.  Come on Bama.  The SEC isn't going to be bad forever.  Teams like Florida, Tennessee, and LSU are going to continue to run the conference.  I am interested to see when Alabama will pick their basketball prestige back up.
