Lawson: "I'm ready to play."

Posted on: March 19, 2009 5:22 pm

GREENSBORO, N.C. -- Just minutes after missing North Carolina's first-round win over Radford, Ty Lawson promised he'd be "ready" for Saturday's second-round game with LSU here at the Greensboro Coliseum.

"It's not painful anymore, just stiff," Lawson said when asked about his injured right toe. "I'm ready to play."

Lawson dressed but did not participate in Thursday's 101-58 win over Radford.

He has not played since a March 8 win over Duke.

Lawson: 'I'm ready to play.'

thats why lawson needs to play alittle or some amount agaisnt lsu to get rid of any possible rust. zaga or west Ky will be ready and focus so that would be the wrong time to throw lawson in and think he wont be alittle rusty. thats why i hope unc get a early big lead on lsu so that they can rest lawson enough and give me time to get any rust off if he has any. Zaga is no cinderella in more and they could present a matchup problem if unc sleeps on the zags.

Glad he's available, but I hope they limit his minutes.  Keep him from aggravating it for next weekend.

Lawson's word means nothing. It will be up to Roy to make that decision. If the coach does not think he is ready, then he wont play. I will say this LSU is a lot better than Radford, and Horton can make the Tar Heels pay if Lawson is not ready to go. Hopefully Lawson will be ready, as leaving it up til the next week game against either Gonzaga or Western Kentucky would not be good. That will not be a game where he should be shedding the rust. Here's to hoping he does play on Saturday and get some rythm going with the team. If not... I would not be suprised to see an early exit from our beloved Tar Heels.

Thats all i wanted to hear but i think he could have played today but it wasnt needed. but this time without lawson has allowed unc to learn to play in the half-court set offense  instead of running all day long. im not gonna sleep on lsu but if the score goes up into the 80's and up lsu is not gonna win because unc hasnt lost many games when they score 80 or more. lsu is good but i dont think they can beat a focus and fresh unc team which looks determine to get to detroit.

the thing for unc to do is to try to blowout lsu or get enough of  a lead that they can coast and conserve lawson so he will be fresh when they meet gonzaga in the sweet 16. which will give him another week to relax and rest the toe.

With or without LAwson I think the Tarheels will take care of business against LSU.  I hope he is all healed up and ready to play, but we are a TEAM, not a one man show.  GO HEELS!

, maybe your internet sucks and you were buffering repeatedly.  I've used MMOD since it started.  Never once had an issue.  And this year, with Silverlight, I was watching UNC online in HD.  I even popped it up on a teathered connection with my laptop connected to my cellphone and it worked.  Sounds like user error to me.  Yay CBS!  Btw, you do know that ESPN has espn360 and it's only available to select ISPs right?  Not that I'd be complaining, it's available to AT&T and Verizon, and I have both, but it would suck for the majority of people.  This is available to all for free.  Stop your complaining before you end up with nothing.  User error!

Yes you are nuts for thinking LSU might beat UNC.  If Lawson plays, UNC by 25+.  If Lawson does not play, UNC by 10+.  Either way, UNC by double digits.  Tar!

NOt worried about it either.  Ty isn't looked at to score and unless it's a constant switching that is going to open up other players, he is only guarded by one of them at a time.  If he does score, it's a bonus.  His goal is to push Louisville out on the fast break.  There is more offensive pressure on 'ville to keep scoring with UNC.

I do think the two teams will meet and it will be a lot like last years game in Charlotte.  back and forth, 'ville runs out of gas.

HEY CAPTAIN MORGAN-- No disrespect BUT TY ,as great as he is, Will have 4 different guards faceguarding him--something he ain't seen in the ACC IF they get to see UL...(Louisville plays Defense)  not that NBA sytle hoop in the ACC....I don;t worry about any hot shot guard, especially when he has a well publicized Bad TOE..!!!  Enjoy the Tourney ---Ain;t this fun ???
