Seth Curry to enroll at Duke

Posted on: March 29, 2009 8:30 pm

Liberty coach Ritchie McKay said Sunday that freshman Seth Curry is transferring to Duke.

"I received a call from Seth today and he told me he decided on transferring to Duke," said Liberty coach Ritchie McKay. "My immediate reaction was what a great opportunity for Seth. Duke is a program rich in tradition with not only one of the greatest head coaches of all time, but an impressive staff, as well. I am excited that Seth will be able to fulfill his desires at a place as prestigious and successful as Duke."

Curry, the younger brother of Davidson star Stephen Curry, averaged 20.2 points per game this season

He'll be eligible at Duke for the 2010-2011 season.

Seth Curry to enroll at Duke

I find it funny that all this big east talk to where this kid should have went to. Yes the big east is a great conference but its not like the ACC is still not one of the better conferences. He will get to play for one of the college all time greatest coaches so he will learn alot. Does this transfer address duke issues no. What difference does it make if a conference sends seven to eight teams to the tourney  there could only be one champ. I don't know any major program that plays to make to the tourney. Most would like to win a championship.  Regardless
how you feel about Duke as long as coach K is there they will be consider a good program.

Seth Curry to enroll at Duke

I am a harcore UConn fan and I agree with you as much as anyone that the cream of the crop is in the Big East but if you've ever seen the kid play you would know this was a good move for him. The ACC's finesse style of play lends itself much more to his game than the physical style of the Big East ever would. If he does indeed belong on this level than Duke is a great place for him to be but I wouldn't be taken off guard if he was a role player rather than a star now.

And by the way phillenatrion, congrats on the final four. I hope you crush UNC, if we can get past Mich St. I would love to see an all Big East National Championship. I am always behind the Big East given they aren't playing UConn.

Seth Curry to enroll at Duke

I'll admit it. I'm hateful. I really wanted to see that guy come to NC State. And to see him go to Duke is sickening. If he had gone to UNC....well I would have had to embark on some form of vandalism. So it a comment of pure spitefulness, Duke you suck. Seth Curry, epic fail.

Seth Curry to enroll at Duke

Let's wait and play the games before coronating the Big East, King of Basketball.  If UNC wins National Championship, ACC is the best conference.  Just because ESPN tells us that the Big East is the best, doesn't mean anything.  They are the same experts which told us the Big 12 was the best Football Conference.  Right.  Who won that National Championship?

Big East got the easiest route to the Final 4 due to these experts.  Big 10 stunk!  ACC down year!  Big 12 can't compete!  Experts were wrong!   More parity in the top teams than these experts will admit.  Top teams in each conference are pretty equal.  Each conference is pretty equal.

Seth Curry to enroll at Duke

The reason why he transferred to Duke over a Big East school is because he wanted to go to an in-state school of a power conference. So, he only really considered Duke, NC State, UNC, and Wake. It's stated in the ESPN article that that is what he was planning on doing.

Seth Curry to enroll at Duke

The comments of hate and dislike for Curry going to Duke obviously show a form of jealousy and as for Duke losing it's luster it's hard living up to the expectations idiots like Mike Freeman set for you see when your duke if you lose in the final 16 your a failure if that's "losing luster" then i'm really happy with it just imagine if duke gets a little back then they are back in the final four.

I guess non of the mid-majors wanted him!  K wasted another scholarship on a "shooter". &n
bsp; He'll be lucky if he ever sees the Elite 8.

Bad move

Like one of the posters above said, he would have been better off transferring to a Big East school to really showcase his talents. Regardless of what any ACC fan will tell you, the Big East is clearly the best conference in college basketball, and the Duke program has lost A LOT of luster.

Seth Curry to enroll at Duke

Finally somebody got it right. I found it hard to believe that this kid ended up at Liberty considering the success of his brother. It was kind of the same deal, passed on by bigger schools so he goes and dominates at a smaller school while bigger schools wish they had recruited him. Finally one of the Curry kids ended up in a big time conference. I haven't seen this kid play so I'm not sure what he's capable of, but going to Duke is obviously a huge jump. It will be interesting to see how he fits in when he becomes eligible in two seasons.
