As I reported yesterday morning in my blog message, John Calipari has taken the Kentucky Wildcat Coaching Job.   I also cited the reasons he was taking this Historic Coaching Position.   Kentucky now has to be ready to move quickly, in making a couple of verbal commitments from Memphis into Wildcat Commitments which they will do I believe.   Calipari fits well within the SEC, but will this mean Little Billy in Gatorland will fall on hard times.   Yes it does.   Florida has had their run but it is over with now.   Calipari will have Kentucky immediately competeing for a National Title Next Year.    Yes I did say it.    Watching Kentucky play Duke and NC will have more meaning and will be certainly fun to watch.   I am a grad of UGA, so that being said I am a huge SEC fan!  So thanks to Kentucky the SEC has respect now.   I am now ready to say the ACC has a rival now in Men's Basketball.   As for the National Title Game and who I picked as the winner, of cource I picked Roy Williams NC Team as did our President.  But I never saw Michigan St. making it this far so watch out this dark horse will win it if they get past NC.  

Hate to be the devils advocate but, when has Calapari proved he can win championships and win consistently in a big pressure conference and ncaa tournry games?? Memphis plays in a jr college conf. and is not a season long physical or mental threat like the acc, big 12, big east, or even the overrated big 10, so where is the proven success?  

 The only other things Lexington is known for is segregation and gambling (horse racing). I guess we will have segregate schools again in order for you to put up the records and win the championships again!

You would think with all those things going for them UK wouldn't have such a hard time finding a coach. 

 i am shocked that he would leave Memphis for the Kentucky job given how the last two coaches have been treated. UK has great history and now they are trying to prove they can buy what they want to achieve what? win a wood trophy. this is completely nuts and just shows how out of touch they are at UK. $40 million dollars for a basketball coach. Unbelievable. I hope he stays at Memphis. He has already proven he can get the top talent. Continue to play a quality out of conference schedule and pray conference USA's other programs continue to elevate their programs. Or Memphis can move . The A-10 would be a nice fit.

Calapari will stay at Memphis he has a championship team gcoming the next few years, he loves dominating the conference and why make the move if their going to pay you the same anyway?

I wouldn;t be surprised if John Calipari stays in Memphis.  Of course, I wouldn't be surprised if John Calipari headed to Kentucky.  I will say, however, that while everyone has him heading out of Memphis one of Calipari's senior players said he thought Calipari was staying at Memphis.
