The Memphis class continues to fall apart

First Xavier Henry asked for a release from his national letter of intent with Memphis.

Then DeMarcus Cousins decommitted from Memphis and committed to Kentucky

Now Nolan Dennis wants a release from Memphis, too.

"We just want people to know that we are not going to attend Memphis because we were going to attend Memphis because of (John) Calipari," Carol Dennis, the mother of Nolan Dennis, told Scout.com's Evan Daniels on Wednesday. “We are going to wait and see what we are going to do from here.

"I think Nolan wants to go to Kentucky; I’m not for sure," she added. "But I know he’s not going to go to Memphis."

Just last week, Memphis had a five-player class some considered the best in the county, but Calipari's departure has killed any chance of it materializing. Junior college standouts Will Coleman and Darnell Dodson are the only Memphis recruits who haven't publicly decommitted.

Meantime, Josh Pastner isn't sleeping.

Literally.

The new Memphis coach has not slept in days.

"I haven't slept since I got the job (on Monday)," Pastner told me this afternoon. "I've been up 48 hours straight."

Yikes.

Pastner said he plans to be in bed by 10 on Wednesday night, get a solid six or seven hours of sleep and be ready to hit the road recruiting Thursday. He'll start in the Memphis area, where Class of 2010 star Joe Jackson (of White Station High) is a clear priority.

"Raping the program"? You wouldn't have a program if it wasn't for him. See my post above. He left you with better players than you had when he started. If you really didn't condone Milt's hiring, good for you. But let's take them all to task then...Bill Self, Larry Brown, Scott Drew, etc...Don't single out Calipari because you are a Memphis fan.

By the way...were you crying about "ethics" when Cal hired Milt Wagner? If so, then I'll accept your comments.

this doesnt have anything to do with what we are talking about what so ever. NO its not ethical or classy to hire a recruits father so you can get a recruit.....and I never condoned it...... However, hiring a dudes dad and raping an entire program is on a slightly different level and isnt really comparable at all.....

The Memphis class continues to fall apart

These players signed letters of intent to play for coach cal, not to attend memphis and be a loyal tiger basketball player no matter what.  you memphis fans really need to get over the fact that calipari is gone and the impact he had on memphis basketball was so immense that your program might crumble to the ground the next couple years.  These players are high school kids who deserve the right to attend any program of their choice, and the only reason they wanted to go to memphis was because of calipari, therefore, they now want to go to kentucky

Bill Walker was not a recruit though...he was already at K-State for a year, no? Cal hasn't taken any current players off of Memphis' roster. I understand your disappointment with the situation, but if Wesley Witherspoon, Shawn Taggart, Doneal Mack and Robert Sallie stay at Memphis, then you are in a pretty decent position relative to where you were when Cal took over.

The Memphis class continues to fall apart

let me clarify again northjersey...its really irrelevant what other coaches have done and I didnt wanna say which one because, I couldnt remember for sure but, I'm almost positive that it was BILL WALKER that wanted to follow huggins to west virginia.....this is who Huggins told NO which spawned the comments that he would not allow any KSTATE recruit to follow him to west virginia.....the point is...he did make these statements and he did actually deny one.....

Oh I saw the comment regarding Bob Huggins...but didn't Dalonte Hill (Michael Beasley's former AAU coach) stay at K-State? Don't you think that's why Beasley honored his commitment and stayed there? My guess is that Bob Huggins said he wouldn't take any recruits (Beasley to be specific) because he already knew he wasn't coming with him.
