Appalachian State lands Peterson

Buzz Peterson has agreed in principle to coach Appalachian State, a source confirmed to CBSSports.com.

An official announcement is expected Wednesday.

Peterson rejected an offer from Appalachian State earlier this month, at which point the school explored other candidates, among them Ed Conroy of The Citadel. But a source said Peterson never really left the conversation, and that an agreement has been reached to return the former Appalachian State coach to the same school at which he worked from 1996 to 2000.

Peterson is currently employed by the Charlotte Bobcats.

He has also coached at Tulsa and Tennessee.

A sign of another coach who got his shot at a big time conference, blew it, and will now fade away into the "remember that coach" bar trivia.  I can't wait to see Gillispie's name at my local Buffalo Wild Wings.

Hooray...anything that takes away from the UNC nepotism and FoM (Friends of Michael) behavior in the Bobcats front office is a VERY good thing.  They still won't admit they blew it on Sean May.
