Does Bledsoe really think he'd start over Wall?

Posted on: May 6, 2009 3:42 pm

It was not a surprise that Eric Bledsoe signed with Kentucky on Wednesday.

What was a surprise was the point guard's rationale.

Asked for the decisive moment in his recruitment, Bledsoe said it was when John Calipari told home he could "come in right off the bat and start." Problem is, the Wildcats are widely considered to be the leader to also land John Wall, and there isn't a point guard on any team in America who would start in front of Wall, Bledsoe included. So if Bledsoe wants to start, he'd better get to rooting for Duke or Miami or Florida to sign Wall, because if Bledsoe finds himself on the same roster as Wall he's going to find himself starting the game on the bench.

Which is fine, if he's OK with it.

And this has nothing to do with the quality of Bledsoe.

The guy is a high-level prospect who could start immediately for most high-major programs, just not any high-major program that also has Wall. It breaks down like this: Bledsoe has the potential to be a great college point guard who someday develops into a pro; Wall is a pro who will spend a year in college. That's the difference between the two, and the only way Bledsoe won't learn this soon is if Wall decides to enroll somewhere other than Kentucky.

Short of that, Bledsoe won't "come in right off the bat and start."

Rather, he'll start on the bench, where he'll watch Wall become the No. 1 pick in the 2010 NBA Draft.

Which is fine, if he's OK with it.

But if he's not, then he's being delusional.

I can't blame the kid for getting duped. He had the entire City of Memphis duped.  Now he has an entire state duped. God forbid  that the bastage's real dream job  is not the president. Cool

I love to read about anything that is happening in sports. I'm a sports junkie and college hoops are at the top of the list. It doesn't matter if it's American Liberty or Memphis or Kentucky. Personally I'm glad that Cal got his "dream" job because that opened the door for Coach Pastner. He's a bright ,young , energetic  coach who will deliver . Right now evry propect is shunning Memphis and that's cool too.I'm glad that bledsoe chose Kentucky because we can move in another direction to find a good PG. While the Tigers might not be a Top 10 team next year --my money is on us for the C-USA title and a automatic bid into the NCAA tourny and once you get in the touny the magic number is 6. At any given time a team can het "hot" and runthe tables all the way to March and hopefully we can be that team next season.

MTCAT,

"Too bad" you're an ignoramous. If you're not going to keep up with our program and it's needs then don't accuse us of being obsessed with yours.
Now run along and play with your UK buddies; I'm sure all those neat phrases and cliches will be apprecited over there. We're too busy worrying about your baskteball program to notice them.

I'd like to thank all you Tiger fans for your expressed concern over the UK recruiting situation.  You must really respect and admire Coach Calipari to continue to try to help him with his lineup even when he's coaching for another school.

The Bledsoe story effected Memphis. Its not that we are keeping up with your roster, its that we are keeping up with whats going to happen to Memphis. Its only natural to analyze the situation when it will have an impact on your own team. Bledsoe didnt choose Memphis so now we are still in the hunt for a point guard. However, BLedsoe going to Kentucky will probably just increase the allready high odds that home grown 5 star point guard Joe Jackson will remain in his home town and play for the tigers next season.

Don't get me wrong I Like Cal .but Cal Is a Lying Snake Car salesman He Would Lie And Sell A Pair Of Shoes With A hole In The Bottom of Them. That Kid Should Have Came To Memphis Where He Could Start Off Top To Run The Team The Way He Likes. Cal Is Only Looking out For Himself Forget The Kids. He Didn't Treat A lot Of The Players Right at Memphis (Willie Kemp) I Hope He Didn't Mess That Kid Up.AndI Hope He Shows out On The Court. It Would Be Nice If The Tigers Make It To The Conference And Win With COACH PASTNER And Staff   GO TIGERS.............................

Well, I mean its logical to think that if Meeks isnt there that the odds increase isnt it?? Thats all I was saying. This really isnt much of an issue because, I think that we basically agree. Besides, bledsoe said CAL told him they would start along side each other. He wouldnt have lied to him would he??? LOL nawwwww not CAL.Its logical to think that if I spit in the ocean, the water level goes up too.  In neither case will it be a significant amount.  If the odds of Bledsoe and Wall playing together go from 100,000:1 to 10,000:1 its still really unlikely, and not anything worth discussing.

I've already addressed your incessant whining about Cal lying in another thread, and I feel no need to rehash it here.

But if your assertion is that, without Meeks, Bledsoe would see significant playing time his freshman year as a shooting guard then I respectfully say, you're dead wrong.

I think we'll see Bledsoe bring the ball up as the PG and Meeks and Wall as co-SG.  With Bledsoe's pass first attitude I think everything will work out perfectly.  What a problem to have, the last five weeks for us Cat fans have been unbelievable.
