Lots of denials to the Pitino report

There have been statements from both Louisville and Sacramento that suggest Rick Pitino is not a candidate for the Kings job, as reported late Thursday by Yahoo! Sports. But it's worth noting that Adrian Wojnarowski authored that story, and he's well connected with a solid track record, meaning you can trust this Pitino-to-the-Kings possibility is something he was told on authority (even if it's untrue) as opposed to something he just invented (as some Louisville fans have angrily suggested) to hurt the Cardinals' program.

In a related note, there was a strong rumor in basketball circles early Thursday indicating Pitino might resign from Louisville by the weekend. But two sources close to Pitino shot that rumor down instantly, with one going as far as to tell by text message that "there's no way" that would happen. On Friday morning, another source discounted the idea that Pitino would leave for the Kings, at which point I was reminded of a story I was told last month, not long after John Calipari was hired at Kentucky. At the time, there was speculation that Pitino might listen to a ridiculous offer from Memphis or that he could accept the Arizona job. But a source close to Pitino explained in the simplest terms possible that Pitino wouldn't make either move given the circumstances because he'd "never follow Calipari" at Memphis and hesitate to leave for any other job right now because he wouldn't want it to look like he was "running from Calipari."

(Rest assured, that's the way Calipari would interpret it. And he'd love it.)

So if you believe that theory, that's at least one reason why Pitino will likely remain at Louisville for the time being.

A move would be perceived by some (particularly in the state of Kentucky) as a surrender to Calipari.

And Pitino might rather rebuild at Louisville than deal with that perception.

Lots of denials to the Pitino report

And the paying fans are 99% white.   The players should be the same.  Sounds as about as dumb as your comment doesn't it?

Lots of denials to the Pitino report

"Listen, The BLACK man built this country and we need to get our payback, A black president is a start but we wont rest untill all black people have what is own to us."

Along with extreme ignorance, which is obvious, you have some real issues Steff1.  Save your breath and stop with the absolutely moronic posts.  You are an embarrasment to your race.

Lots of denials to the Pitino report

You people just slay me. You're talking about a guy who will be in the HOF without question. What gives you any credence at all to say he wants to run away away. How droll. As for the UK fans on this little blip on the radar screen you would sell your mother to get Rick back in Lexington. Yes, that's what I said. You guys would toss Cal overboard to the sharks if Rick wanted to come back. Don't even try to convince anybody I'm not right.

I love the running from Calipari angle!  Not sure I really think he would run from Cal, but he does hate sharing the spotlight.  You are right though everyone will say he didn't want to compete for attention.  Funny stuff.

Lots of denials to the Pitino report

More than 30 years in the news business have taught me it's supposed to be like it was in the movies. A journalist's responsiblity is to tell the readers who told them. If it's an "unnamed source" then it's the reporter's responsibility to get at least two other unnamed sources to confirm. If they confirm, then the journalist writes the story, making it clear that three unnamed sources have said it. (And they can't be someone in the Kings organization, your mom and your toddler. They have to be people in the know. Then, it's up to the reader to decide whether to believe it or not. This is the rule good journalists follow. I've also noticed this rule is not often followed by sports journalists. Hmmm.

Lots of denials to the Pitino report

Big Blue get over it! Pittino does not want to coach Sacremento, Atlanta, San Diego, Lexington, yes, Lexington! He is where he is at and will be as long as Tom Jurich is there at U of L. And all this ego stuff is going to come back and bite you guys.Because YOU know and I know when Coach Cal Loses that first one at Rupp, and believe it, he WILL lose a game or 2 at Rupp, anyways when he does all you blue bellies are going to fly off the handle like always. And the way you will try and justify it will be on the attack. And that attack will be at UofL or Pittino. Because in reality all you do is measured as to what the Red Rage does and you know I speak the truth. Coach Cal is not the "GOD" of college basketball. He is justa good coach as was Billy G. He has done nothing in college basketball, nothing. He HAS had the best recruiting classes and had a good record at Memphis. But Billy G was not bad at A&M either. So just wait, basketball will return again and the game will have Pittino there too and then maybe, just maybe you may be able to gloat about a win but...........................maybe
