Kentucky now down to the scholarship limit

Kevin Galloway and Matt Pilgrim will not return to Kentucky next season, a source close to the program confirmed for CBSSports.com on Thursday morning. Consequently, the Wildcats are now down to 12 scholarship players set to be on the team assuming all the recruits qualify, 13 scholarship players if all the recruits qualify and Jodie Meeks withdraws from the NBA Draft.

The NCAA limit is 13 scholarship players.

The following is UK's roster of scholarship players (if Meeks withdraws from the draft):
  • Jodie Meeks
  • Patrick Patterson
  • Perry Stevenson
  • Ramon Harris
  • Darius Miller
  • DeAndre Liggins
  • Josh Harrellson
  • John Wall
  • DeMarcus Cousins
  • Daniel Orton
  • Darnell Dodson
  • Jon Hood
  • Eric Bledsoe
On that roster is the likely No. 1 pick in the 2010 NBA Draft (Wall), two other probable lottery picks (Cousins and Patterson) and a totally separate player who is expected to be a consensus first-team All-American (Meeks). Combine that with what should arguably be the best bench in the country, and you can see why Kentucky should be the nation's preseason No. 1 team.

Whether Cal was named or not is of no relevance. He was the coach... he knew Rose's brother flew on the team's charterd plane... and being that Cal was and is a control freak no one not admitted on the plane wouldve been there if Cal not ok'd it.  Hence, Cal's infraction.

Next youre going to tell me bus drivers dont know who walk on their bus... please

I can see why they would be preseason #2 They are still not as good as KU or as MSU. These teams have toughness and experience UK has none of these traits. Traits which will win a championshipif we end up preseason number 2 we're obviously considered better than one of those two teams. hence why we're number 2 and one of them is number 3.

If Calipari was a cause of the allegiations , the sanctions should follow him  . If not , the University of Memphis needs to deal with them.

The NCAA needs to deal with the cause , not hang them on someone else. However , do you really think no one else at the University of Memphis knew what was going on even if Calipari knew about the SAT exam situation ??

Tarheel fan you no longer will dominate recruiting like you have for so many years. The combination of Cal and the big blues tradition and
facilities will battle with the Tarheels every year for the best of the best. This years recruiting class was one of the best ever eat crow baby.

youre jealousy of the big blue is obvious. Kansas is no longer the unamious number
1 uk will be right there. You combine a great recruiter with uks tradition and this
is just the beginning. Oh by the way Kansas fan Meeks shoots foul shots at around 90% and Patterson at 78%.

Dont talk so soon supercool.  Remember the 96 kentucky team under Pitino.  I am certain that they could have beaten plenty of teams in the NBA.  Want to talk facts,    ok.  SEVEN firtst round picks on one team and three others that made NBA rosters so thats ten NBA players and how ubsurd would it be for a college team to beat a pro team?  STUPID.  I love know it alls that talk out their azz.
