Nike does not want you to see that dunk

AKRON, Ohio -- You want to see video of Xavier's Jordan Crawford dunking on LeBron James?

If so, too bad.

Because you're not going to see it.

Thanks to Nike.

Turns out, there were at least two cameras rolling Monday night when Crawford dunked on James during a pick-up game here at the LeBron James Skills Academy. It was a two-handed jam, the kind that would've circulated quickly on YouTube. But Nike officials eliminated that possibility shortly after the dunk happened by allegedly confiscating tapes from various cameramen.

Freelance photographer Ryan Miller was one of the cameramen shooting the game.

He told CBSSports.com that Nike Basketball Senior Director Lynn Merritt took his tape.

"He just said, 'We have to take your tape,'" Miller said. "They took it from other guys, too."

Worth noting is that there is no policy against filming at the LeBron James Skills Academy, and Miller said he had been filming all day without incident. Nobody ever told him to stop. Nobody ever said there was a problem ... until after Crawford dunked on James.

"LeBron called Lynn over and told him something," Miller said. "That's how I knew his name was Lynn. LeBron said, 'Hey, Lynn. Come here.'"

Minutes later, Miller said Merritt demanded his tape.

"There's nothing I can think of besides LeBron just not wanting it online," Miller said. "It's a good story to tell people, I guess. But then again, I'm kind of pissed. I lost my tape."

Nike does not want you to see that dunk

C'mon Nike.Get a grip. Its just a game.So what Lebron got posterized? At least it wasn't in a playoff game. For all we know Lebron prob wasn't playing at full speed as if he was n a reg season game.Let the kid have his 15 mins of fame.Hell even the man himself got posterized(Starks over Jordan&Grant with the left hand no doubt) which is one of the top 10 posterized dunks of all time.

Nike does not want you to see that dunk

That really stinks that Nike decided that know one will get to see that dunk. I feel a little cheated. Just another reason to hate big corporations. Oh well I don't like Nike anyway their shoes are overpriced and poorly made anyway. I hope those 8 year olds in Indonesia go on strike and stick it to 'em. But seriously this Merritt guy would have had to catch me and then pry the tape from my dead hands to take my video, this Miller guy should grow a pair.

Nike does not want you to see that dunk

I can remember when Nick Young of the Bullets err Wizards dunked on LeBro last year and where is he now?  Who cares and why should LeBron for a kid who is still in college and may not make it to the NBA.  Just like he won't shake hands after a defeat, it just shows his immaturity.  No doubt James is a fantasic talent but every dog has his day.  Jordan has been dunked on and what did MJ do.. go out and one up them.  LeBron needs to stop complaining and just play.

Nike does not want you to see that dunk

was the cameraman contractually obliged to give up the tape?  if not, why did he give it up?

For those that complain about people not knowing or meeting some of these guys:  My wife and I were at a charity softball game in the Houston area sponsored by Tracy McGrady, and James came there.   James proved himself to be flat-out rude.  His posse just pushed smaller kids (the 8-10 year old area) away, and told them that James wasn't signing any autographs.  He didn't speak to anyone but his posse.  Poor public relations for one of the NBA's star players.

Nike does not want you to see that dunk

I CARE because i know the difference between dunking and being dunked.....c'mon, dunks and threes are all these guys even shoot anymore.  everybody is looking to do it, and finally someone does, if no one cared, then nike would not have confiscated the tapes b/c no one would have watched the video on youtube.....but it would have gotten like a half a millions hits by now from a bunch of people who don't care.  it would be playing on people's cell phones and computers, all over all kinds of commercials for virtually everything.  there's a reason that footage never sees the light of day, and the reason is PEOPLE CARE.  especially since Lebron turned into a punk after the last playoff loss.

Nike does not want you to see that dunk

I didn't read every comment but doesn't anyone think this could be a Nike/LeBron publicity stunt?

Otherwise - who cares if LeBron got dunked on, anyone still think he's not the best (or second best) player in the world?
