Nike does not want you to see that dunk

AKRON, Ohio -- You want to see video of Xavier's Jordan Crawford dunking on LeBron James?

If so, too bad.

Because you're not going to see it.

Thanks to Nike.

Turns out, there were at least two cameras rolling Monday night when Crawford dunked on James during a pick-up game here at the LeBron James Skills Academy. It was a two-handed jam, the kind that would've circulated quickly on YouTube. But Nike officials eliminated that possibility shortly after the dunk happened by allegedly confiscating tapes from various cameramen.

Freelance photographer Ryan Miller was one of the cameramen shooting the game.

He told that Nike Basketball Senior Director Lynn Merritt took his tape.

"He just said, 'We have to take your tape,'" Miller said. "They took it from other guys, too."

Worth noting is that there is no policy against filming at the LeBron James Skills Academy, and Miller said he had been filming all day without incident. Nobody ever told him to stop. Nobody ever said there was a problem ... until after Crawford dunked on James.

"LeBron called Lynn over and told him something," Miller said. "That's how I knew his name was Lynn. LeBron said, 'Hey, Lynn. Come here.'"

Minutes later, Miller said Merritt demanded his tape.

"There's nothing I can think of besides LeBron just not wanting it online," Miller said. "It's a good story to tell people, I guess. But then again, I'm kind of pissed. I lost my tape."

Nike does not want you to see that dunk

The "who cares" comment expresses my personal feelings on this issue.

What concerns me is under what authority does a non-governmental organization or another person sieze private property and then hold it without the owner's consent?

People used to think that Lebron was the second coming of Michael Jordan, but no more.  Not only was Jordan the best in the game, he was also class.  When he lost, he shook hands and congratulated the other guys, and when he won, he was as classy about it as you could be.  This guy is a pitiful baby, and Nike is just another corporate operation too concerned about image.  Shame on you Lebron, you are no Michael Jordan, and until you grow up, you nver will be.

Nike does not want you to see that dunk

not quite high school, he is starting his 3rd year in college.  He was the biggest street baller I have ever seen at IU.  Good for dunks on Lebron on playground but bad for NBA, no shot, no D!!!

Great PR for best team in Cincinnati...Xavier Musketeers will have another great season with Crawford controlling the ball.  Too bad Lebron and Nike didn't let us see that 2 handed dunk.

Go Musketeers!!

Nike DOES want you to see that dunk - later

Here is a chance to take some long odds on the real reason the tapes were confiscated...

Nike will release the video as part of an ad where LeBron gets dunked on then straps on next year's model sneakers and takes it back to the young pup who dunked on him.

If they let the video out to Youtube etc, the surprise factor is lost.

Just a guess...long odds, but it would be a great way to spin-doctor the tape.

I agree that its no big deal that he got dunked on.  It happens to everyone.  What makes it funny is that Lebron is such a baby that he made them pull the tapes.  I doubt Jordan (or any other player with class) would have reacted the same way.
