CLEVELAND -- Organizers of the 76 Classic have informed participating schools of the bracket for their event.

The bracket, according to a source, is as follows:
  • Texas A&M vs. Clemson
  • West Virginia vs. Long Beach State
  • UCLA vs. Portland
  • Butler vs. Minnesota
The Texas A&M-Clemson winner will play the West Virginia-LBSU winner in one semifinal.

The UCLA-Portland winner will play the Butler-Minnesota winner in the other semifinal.

The winners of those games will meet in the championship game.

The dates of the event are Nov. 26, 27 and 29.

Organizers of the 76 Classic are expected to formally announce the bracket in the near future. Worth noting is that half of the participating schools -- No. 10 West Virginia, No. 11 Butler, No. 14 Clemson and No. 16 Minnesota -- are ranked in the CBSSports.com preseason Top 25 (and one) .

I could be wrong, but i think the Stanford game was not scheduled for Butler once they found out they were going to be in this tourney.

Also on Butler's OOC schedule is Davidson, Ohio State, Xavier, Northwestern, UAB and the Bracketbuster.  That is going to be as tough as a non conf schedule as anyone's.

Why Portland? Was Utah Valley State already booked to play in the Montana Sprinkled Cupcake Classic? Way to give UCLA some tough first round competition. That pairing alone makes that tournament a joke. You have TAM against Clemson, then UCLA against Portland on the other side???

And that, my friends, is a classic case of what we call ignorance.

Butler's tough non-conference schedule includes Davidson?  Yeah, about that.  Davidson will be Davidson again.  Not DellCurry'sSon like the last couple of years...(Whaa, Whaa, Whaaaa...)

Agree with you completely.  However, Butler will not play Stanford this year.  That series was pushed back one year due to scheduling issues.  They will now play at Stanford in 2010-11 and Stanford will come to Hinkle in 11-12.

spinny-

You are joking about Maryland winning Maui, right??  The only teams they should be better than are Chaminade and Colorado. I would take Arizona, Louisville, Wisconsin, Gonzaga, and Vanderbilt all to be better than Maryland. Obviously things could change between now and November.  But as of now, depending on matchups, I don't see them doing well at all.

Xavier has a much tougher OOC, they have 3 games in the Old Spice Classic which includes other teams such as Marquette, Alabama, Michigan, Florida State, Baylor, Creighton and Iona. They also play Wake Forest, Florida and Butler all away with LSU, and UC at home, with a possible away game at Kansas State, if they can get that finalized.

Maui Wow-wee

One more thing on the Maui. If Maryland wins it, as I expect, they won't have racked up very many quality wins. Kinda sucks.

I agree. Tubby's teams always perform better than expectations. I think this is a real sleeper team. And this 76 classic possibly looks like the best of the pre-season tourneys. Still can't believe how weak the Maui is.
