LAS VEGAS -- TMZ has posted a grainy video of Jordan Crawford's now-famous dunk on LeBron James.

Click this link to be underwhelmed.

As I wrote earlier, there was no way the actual dunk would ever match the hype of the dunk, and that seems to be the case. I mean, it looks just about like every other one-guy-dunks-on-another-guy highlight you've ever seen, only difference being you can hardly see it because of the poor quality of the video. And that's why Nike was silly to try to prevent the public from seeing this, because its actions led to freelance photographer Ryan Miller telling me how Nike Senior Director Lynn Merritt confiscated his tape of the dunk, which led to me writing about it , which led to tons of negative headlines nationally and even a skit on "The Tonight Show with Conan O'Brien."

It's been a public relations nightmare for Nike and, to a lesser degree, James.

And never had to be this way.

Had Nike let Miller keep his tape, a few thousand people woud've seen Crawford dunk on James via YouTube. It would've probably been linked on The Big Lead and Deadspin, and that's about it. But because of Nike's mishandling of the situation, a few million people will now see Crawford dunk on James via TMZ, and Nike's image has been considerably bruised in the process, all because of a power-hungry executive who overstepped his boundaries trying to protect somebody who never needed to be protected in the first place.

UPDATE: Ebaumnation.com has a better version up now.

That second link is so much better, it would have been all over sportscenter but then wouldve no longer been a story. Bad move by Lebron and Nike to snatch the tape. He looks so much worse then he would have.

Here comes the tape ...

At this point, the ball had better have caught on fire like in "NBA JAM", with Crawford doing a front flip dunk. I want to see confetti rain down from the rafters while T.I. is rapping at mid-court. Supermodels in bikini's jumping up and down with signs that read "I Heart Jordan Crawford". Howard Cosell's corpse had better be reporting on this monumental event in the tape. The backboard had better have exploded while Crawford was screaming and LeBron was running for cover. Lastly, I want to see Israel and Palestine inspired sign a treaty right there on the court.

I thought I could write a funny rant this my friend is hilarious.... lmao

It's LeBron's doing. It's a big deal because he made it a big deal. I have no sympathy for him.

Who Cares? well, I'll tell you "Who Cares".

As the media and corporate giants continue to "tell" us how we "see" the real world, it should worry you that this is not something easily dismissed.

Wall Street scammed billions from Americans by telling them first what they were really looking at and then hiding the facts as the "house" caved in. In politics, you are witnessing the fall of capitolism as we speak and low and behold, we have the politicians hiding the truth at every corner.

The sanctity of sport and it's respect in society has slowly decayed. NIKE seems to think that they can not only do what ever they wish (see human rights violations) but now tell us what we can and can't see! History has shown that at some point when big business starts to believe it has the almighty power to do whatever, whenever it wants, the end of that company is right around the corner. (See GE, GM,  AT&T-70's, and most recently Wall Street Investment firms).

NIKE is on it's way...out. It won't be next year  or the year after but this is the recipe to failure.

Accepting it like those who dismissed the housing bubble will produce the same result in the end. Someone will lose big.

Out...

So what?

Anyone who plays basketball, no matter who it is, is eventually going to get dunked on or near. In this case, this was a complete non event. If we are going to talk about getting dunked on, then the player would have to go right over the top of someone. LeBron simply missed a block attempt from the side.

Actually, last year with the #1 draft choice in my fantasy league I took Chris Paul. And it paid off, especially in the playoffs. He missed more games than LeBron, and he did have less total points ... but I'm 90% sure he had more points per game. And he had a higher "most points" game. And he was better in the fantasy playoffs. Plus, Tyson Chandler and David West were injured / not playing well for quite some time and Paul still showed up.

But it depends on how you weigh assists.

And unless Miami addresses their lack of talent issue, the fact Dwyane Wade accounts for over 50% of their players whether in points or assists will mean something.

Everyone chastised me for not selecting LeBron first, but it paid off to pick Paul. I did end up losing in the championship because of Allen Iverson's poor year and some other things, but I still had a relatively good season.

One thing is for sure: After the Magic incident and now this, for the first time in his career LeBron has rubbed everyone the wrong way and his reputation has taken a hit. He's kept clean thus far, which is relatively impressive. But he's stained now.Wrong.

You have to be careful when you say "everyone".  Everyone didn't even realize he didn't shake hands after the Magic series.  Most casual fans still don't know.  Was it bad sportsmanship?  Yes, no doubt in my mind.  But I had more of a problem with Rajon Rondo's thuggery than James's snubbing the handshake.  But because Rondo's not James his actions will never get the attention James's do.

This?  This is ridiculous.  A bunch of people guessing how much, if any, input James had in confiscating the video.  They want to assume the worst, and this gives them the opportunity.  IF he directed it, he made a big mistake.  I don't see it happening, but unlike so many on here I'm not going to pretend to know how it came about.

I don't see him as stained.  Neither of these two minor issues are anything close to the types of actions that stain a player.  Like when Isiaih Thomas got in a fight and ended up trying to slap instead of punch.  He looked like a total woman on that.  Like when Ron Artest went into the stands and started after the wrong fan.  Not like Latrell Sprewell choking his coach.  Not like Kobe Bryant being whipped enough to buy his wife a $4M makeup gift for dragging their dirty laundry through the press with the girl in Colorado.  Not like Scottie Pippen refusing to go in the game because coach called for Toni Kukoc to take the game winning shot (which he made).  Those things stain a player, not this kind of silliness.

Here comes the tape (updated) ...

i guess i will be the one who says it, i care. when kobe crossed over mike, when iverson crossed over mike, everyone wanted to see it. now everyone wants he best get  beat. it tells everybody that touches the court evrybody has a shot to shine. if crawford can dunk on lebron then now kids on my aau team go hard trying to dunk and cross over kids that are signing to carolina duke and kansas. now everyone knows they have the abilty to be great and now kids go hard. if you expected a two-haned windmill that he pulled out of his backside then you should be ashammed of yourself. if lebron did the same dunk on shaq what would you say then? no with that being said lebron is still  my first pick in fantasy basketball come october. however give jordan crawford his props, the dunk was nice but the crioss over is what we should all be talking bout.
