Syracuse adds top five national prospect

Syracuse added a consensus top five prospect Tuesday when Fab Melo committed to the Orange.

“Fab’s going to go to Syracuse,” Weston (Fla.) Sagemont coach Adam Ross told Scout.com. “I think he really enjoyed his visit there. I think it shocked him and I’m not sure he anticipated what he saw up there.”

Melo is a 7-foot center from Brazil.

Scout.com ranks him as the No. 5 prospect in the Class of 2010.

He chose the Orange over Louisville, Connecticut and Florida State.

As a diehard Cards fan, I want to congratulate Da 'Cuse for picking up the verbal commitment from Fab Melo. I'm not going to talk smack, because it is pointless. Good Stuff and I wish him the best of luck. I actually prefer Syracuse, after UofL of course, over UCONN and those other Big East Schools anyday.

Contrary to what any cardinal fan tries to tell you on this board....we would've love to have that dude on our squad.

Really?  Improve his defense?  And you base this on what games he played in?

Basically he is 7' 270 and the coaches all say his moves in PRACTICE look great.  That's it.  He is being recruited based on size, because in NCAA b-ball, it does matter.

As far as his offense and defense:  all speculation... from PRACTICE.

The kid might be great, but he might also be Shawn Bradley

If Pitino cant win a title why does he have one, and why does his teams have two?
If it was'nt for pertection of a player Derrick Anderson would most likely would have two himself.
Its simple to see you just don't know how hard it is to win one.

Pitinio is a very over-rated coach he doesn't win title, he can get you there but once he gets there he always gets out coached!!!!!!!!!!

If your coaches can't tell the difference between Wall and Bledsoe on the court then they are already cheating. Coaches aren't allowed to watch workouts during the summer.

so WWW suggest that I listen to this wonderful coach John Calapari.Did you not read my post?  I said that WWW is an advisor for Nike, which means that he can contact probably 2/3 of the major basketball programs (ex. Kentucky, UNC, Duke, Texas, Florida, Memphis, Michigan State) because they are with NIKE.  Therefore, if you think that WWW is only connected to Kentucky, then you are completly and totally wrong.  Heck, he proabably has better communications with Oregon, Oregon State, and Washington because Nike is based in Oregon.
