Josh Pastner is about to land another elite recruit.

This time it's a local product.

"I am committing TONIGHT at the Larry Finch Center at 6:30 pm," likely McDonald's All-American Joe Jackson posted on his Facebook page early Friday. "Come support me and one of the biggest decisions [of] my life. ... Kansas, TN, Memphis. What [is it going to] be?"

For those unfamiliar, the Larry Finch Center -- technically the Larry O. Finch Center -- is the practice facility on the University of Memphis campus. So it should come as no surprise that multiple sources have told CBSSports.com that Jackson will verbally commit to Memphis tonight (over Kansas and Tennessee) and provide what should be a wild scene in his hometown.

"Joe loves the city and he wants to be a Tiger," one source told CBSSports.com. "He was always going to be a Tiger."

Thus, this is hardly a shock. Things have been headed this way for months, honestly, and Jackson spent much of the past week dropping hints on Facebook . Even so, it's still huge news in the recruiting world if only because it means Pastner will now have commitments from two top 10 prospects from the Class of 2010 despite the fact that the 31-year-old former Arizona player is still yet to coach his first game.

Serious question: Has something like this ever happened?

"The closest thing would be John Calipari [getting] John Wall and DeMarcus Cousins [this past offseason before ever coaching a game at Kentucky], but obviously Cal has coached [games] before," said longtime recruiting analyst Justin Young, who runs the National Hoops Report. "But other than that, no sir."

Memphis will now become the nation's only school with commitments from two Top 10 prospects.

One of those commitments is Will Barton, a 6-foot-5 guard from Baltimore.

The National Hoops Report ranks him sixth in the Class of 2010.

The other is obviously Joe Jackson, a 5-11 point guard from Memphis.

The National Hoops Report ranks him ninth in the Class of 2010.

He coached under Cal for one year. He coached under Lute Olson for the other 7 years. Lute Olson is his mentor not Cal. Cal brought Pastner in for recruiting because Pastner was the brains behind Arizona getting players like Jordan Hill, Bayless, and Budinger. So Cal really didnt have a hand in Pastner being able to recruit any players he has been doing this since he has been in coaching.

Let's not forget!

Who did Pastner learn how to recruit from?  I believe his name is Calipari.  I love how everyone hates on Cal when he leaves.  He left a legacy at Memphis and his disciple(Pastner) has taken the reins and taken off with it.  Everyone says Cal left Memphis as soon as there was a sight of trouble in the horizon.  Let's not forget who the lead man was in the recruitment of Derrick Rose,  I believe his name is Josh Pastner.  Pastner learned a thing or to from Cal so don't think that Memphis will be innocent of recruiting/hiring players in the future.

The addition of Joe Jackson is AWESOME for the Tigers. The Tigers will have one of the best backcourts in America in 2010 with JJ and E. Williams. And lets not forget the addition of Will Barton, another consensus top 20 player.  Jackson and Barton's commitment ensures Memphis will have one of the top recruiting in the country in 2010.  I can't wait to see who else coach Pastner pulls in for 2010.

WoooooooWhoooooooooooo!.....Coach
Pastner's recruiting accomplishments have been top notch. He seeks players from all cracks in the world and still maintains a close eye on the hometown elite talent. I have FULL confidence in coach Pastner and truly believe that the TIGERS will be a force to deal with....

Jelan Kendrick, sense you are spending a lot of time in Memphis and around Memphis BasketBall players, come on and sign with the TIGERS....That will make 3 five star players for 2010....

Pastner to add second Top 10 recruit tonight

Remember he's only 5'11 probably 5'10.  Being that size he'll probably need a couple of years to secure a lottary pick. No doubt about it.  Extremely talented guards drop every year in the draft due to their height.  That is a big concern at the NBA level.  Just look at Jameer Nelson some years back and the great season he had.  He dropped to the 28th pick soley on his height.

that's entertaining coming from a UK, Coach Cal fan.  "Good luck with his one year, Memphis."  ha.  enjoy your many one and done's in lexington.
and for the record, Cal was still recruiting Joe, even though Joe eliminated UK a few weeks ago.

Very nicely written article and I am sure Memphis fans hope that they join the ranks of the elite as well on a consistent basis past just a coach.  Even though I am not a big Duke fan, I do believe and hope that Duke will continue to be a consistently successful after their coach.

This is the way I like to see comments. Even though we compete we can still be civil. It is all a game and that is it. Thanks

Pastner to add second Top 10 recruit tonight

Memphis fans have heard so much crap about how Calipari was our program and that we would "fall off the face of the earth" after he bolted.  Granted, these same people knew nothing of our history and were not very informed, but I want to know what you think now?  Pastner has recruited 3 5 star recruits in 5 months.....it took Calipari 9 seasons to do that.  I will credit Calipari with getting our program back to where it should be, and then I watched him dismantle it in a blink of an eye.  In comes boy wonder....Josh Pastner and he has been incredible......not to mention he's never coached a game. Thank you Coach Pas.

To the "King of Memphis".........lets ball mtown style and take it nationwide.

We are still here America, and the recruits will keep committing (Come on Tarik Black).  Fear the Tigers!
