Josh Pastner is about to land another elite recruit.

This time it's a local product.

"I am committing TONIGHT at the Larry Finch Center at 6:30 pm," likely McDonald's All-American Joe Jackson posted on his Facebook page early Friday. "Come support me and one of the biggest decisions [of] my life. ... Kansas, TN, Memphis. What [is it going to] be?"

For those unfamiliar, the Larry Finch Center -- technically the Larry O. Finch Center -- is the practice facility on the University of Memphis campus. So it should come as no surprise that multiple sources have told CBSSports.com that Jackson will verbally commit to Memphis tonight (over Kansas and Tennessee) and provide what should be a wild scene in his hometown.

"Joe loves the city and he wants to be a Tiger," one source told CBSSports.com. "He was always going to be a Tiger."

Thus, this is hardly a shock. Things have been headed this way for months, honestly, and Jackson spent much of the past week dropping hints on Facebook . Even so, it's still huge news in the recruiting world if only because it means Pastner will now have commitments from two top 10 prospects from the Class of 2010 despite the fact that the 31-year-old former Arizona player is still yet to coach his first game.

Serious question: Has something like this ever happened?

"The closest thing would be John Calipari [getting] John Wall and DeMarcus Cousins [this past offseason before ever coaching a game at Kentucky], but obviously Cal has coached [games] before," said longtime recruiting analyst Justin Young, who runs the National Hoops Report. "But other than that, no sir."

Memphis will now become the nation's only school with commitments from two Top 10 prospects.

One of those commitments is Will Barton, a 6-foot-5 guard from Baltimore.

The National Hoops Report ranks him sixth in the Class of 2010.

The other is obviously Joe Jackson, a 5-11 point guard from Memphis.

The National Hoops Report ranks him ninth in the Class of 2010.

Pastner to add second Top 10 recruit tonight

In all likelyhood he's a One and Done, so good luck with his one year, Memphis."

Barring an incredible Derick Rose type season I see this kid sticking around a couple of years.  Maybe three.  Remember he's only 5'11 probably 5'10.  Being that size he'll probably need a couple of years to secure a lottary pick.

Pastner to add second Top 10 recruit tonight

I am extremely glad to see this happening. Granted, I am a die-hard Kansas Jayhawks fan and we are losing out on a recruit. But I am very glad to see this program can still recruit well after John Calipari decided to take his used car salesman act to Kentucky. I have never liked that guy. He leaves programs just as soon as allegations of cheating and fraud begin to surface and its the school that is left getting punished! Its a bit ridiculous in my mind. He claims he had no knowledge of this suspicious acts occuring. Alright, lets just assume he did not have any idea of what was going on. He still hired the people who committed these acts. If he did not hire them, he has been in the business long enough to know what people do, and the roles people around the program play. If you put yourself in a bad situation, even if its not you causing the problem, you should still be held somewhat responsible. Here is an example: if Pacman Jones is in a sketchy nightclub and a fight breaks out with his group of friends and some other group of people, in Comissioner Goodell's eyes he is still responsible in some sense. He is responsible because even though he did not committ the foul act, he still put himself in a bad position. So maybe Calipari did not know exactly what was going on, but he is the head coach and should be in the position to know everything that is going on in his program.

Anyway, back to my original intent (sorry I had to vent for a bit). Its great to see recruits are still coming to the Memphis program. I hope they have many winning seasons ahead of them and their dominance in Conference USA continues. I love it when a basketball program begins to transcend just the coaches who lead them to victories. For example, Duke is all about Coach Mike Krzyzewski, when he retires I think the program will falter. But if you look at schools like Kentucky, Kansas, UNC, UCLA, etc. you see that these programs really do transcend just the coaches. They are great no matter who coaches them. Perhaps if Pastner can continue recruiting like this, someday Memphis will join those ranks.

T ouksmithfan,

"In all likelyhood he's a One and Done, so good luck with his one year, Memphis."

Funny to hear a UK fan throw a veiled slur like that, as that is all that Calamari will recruit / hire from now on.

With Cal and the kids he brought, stole or conned into following him to KY, half of your team is one and done next year so he needs to be recruiting now for at least 4 replacements.

What's Done is Done...Time to Look Ahead

In an off season that started out as a disaster, Josh Pastner has emerged as a savior for the Memphis b-ball program.  There were a lot writers, and know it alls on these boards, who said Memphis was done when Cal left and took most of the recruiting class with him.  Instead, Pastner has us positioned to have a solid year in '09, a top recruiting class in 2010 and continued success for the future.

Reports of the Tigers' demise were greatly exaggerated...Go Tigers!

This was probably the worst kept secret in the country. Everybody knew he was going to committ to Memphis. Why Tennessee or Kansas even continued to recruit him is beyond me. Coach Cal stopped trying months ago. I'm just glad that Tennessee didn't get the kid. In all likelyhood, he's a One and Done, so good luck with his one year, Memphis.

WOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!

We all new it was going to happen.  I'm just glad we're locking him up.  Pretty impressive Pastner hasn't even coached a game yet and is signing top 10 recruits.  This has been such an up and down off season for Memphis.  It's nice to end it on a high note.  Well, I guess this isn't the end because we now we're coming for Tyreke Black.

GO TIGERS!!!!
