Kansas sophomore Tyshawn Taylor suffered a dislocated thumb in a Tuesday night "skirmish" and could be sidelined for four weeks, the Lawrence Journal-World is reporting.

According to the paper, Taylor was the player most seriously injured in an incident between members of the KU basketball and football teams. A source said an argument began as two groups of players crossed paths at an on-campus building, and that punches were thrown.

Taylor was treated and released at a local hospital.

Naturally, he later posted about it on Facebook.

“Real (racial slur)s do real things ... point plankn," Taylor posted before adding, "I got a dislocated finger ... from throwing a punch."

Taylor averaged 9.7 points per game last season.

He got a career-high 26 in a February win at Oklahoma.

Kansas is ranked No. 1 in the preseason Top 25 (and one) .

This is embarassing - can't manage to throw a punch without dislocating his thumbInsightful! I bet he threw a punch with his thumb underneath the other four fingers instead of outside them. Thats about the only way I can think of to dislocate your thumb while throwing a punch. He better stick to basketball.Wink

Not sure how bright that was to run off and post on Facebook unless you're trying to get suspended!  This kid needs to watch Dave Chappelle's "When Keeping it Real goes Wrong" sketch.

I agree.  I don't see how basketball and football players don't get along.  There should be a common bond between athletes, especially at a big school and I believe it is normally a good relationship.  I played college basketball and we got along great with the football team.  They supported us and we supported them 100%.  However, it appears that a racial slur started this onslaught of negativity.  I cannot blame anyone who is a victim of a slur for going after someone.  We'll see what the investigation unveils.  I'm more worried about the twins pushing a guy down the stairs -- that could bring some serious charges.

How old am I?

It really is a whole new world.  Who knew Facebook had so many uses?  Now you can get the pre-fight s-talking out of the way on your own time so that when you finally meet in person, you can just get right to the girly slaps.  Maybe next time they could just stand there and twitter insults right in each other's faces, because if you dislocate your thumb when throwing a punch, you clearly should not be fighting anyone.

Guess they showed him who the better sports were.  Of course, what happened to whatever he punched?  I'd like to see a picture of that.

"Sounds like a fun upstanding young man that KU has there!"
From a NM fan, who took the trash we kicked out.  Classic.

And Self will have no problem dumping this kid if he deserves it.  The next few days will be interesting.

bluegray,

The poster didn't have to go to facebook to 'stalk' him. The facebook posts are in the KC paper, and I think ESPN has them too....
