Memphis adds another local recruit

Chris Crawford announced Thursday that he will remain home for college and play at Memphis.

"I just really didn't want to leave," said Crawford, a senior at Sheffield in Memphis. "I want to play in front of my family."

Crawford (ranked 66th nationally at Rivals.com) is the fourth prospect from the Class of 2010 to commit to Memphis. He joins Will Barton (ranked 11th nationally), Joe Jackson (ranked 12th nationally) and Antonio Barton, meaning Memphis now has three top 75 commitments.

Crawford and Jackson played summer ball together for the Memphis Magic Elite.

The 6-foot-4 guard hit the winning shot in the title game of the adidas Super 64 tournament in Las Vegas.

There have been some questions about whether Crawford will qualify academically to compete as a freshman. But a source who has seen the transcript told CBSSports.com this week that Crawford "will be fine" and added that there's no reason to think he won't be eligible. Crawford was also considering Tennessee and Mississippi State.

Memphis adds another local recruit

Can't wait to come back on the boards during the season(when the real talking happens). You all better get your pathetic shots in now. I can't wait either Blabarino.  Your name says it all.  blablablablblalbha blah blah blah!! hahahaha.  You better hope that Cal can assemble enough talent to win a national championship on their own.  Cause when the pressure is on he folds like a lawn chair.  You saw it in the national championship game.  I love how Kentucky fans are ready to raise up that next banner already.  But the truth is that deep down inside you know Cals going to get caught cheating again...or wait.  He won't be caught.  It will be Kentucky that gets caught.  And Memphis fans will be having a field day!! hahahaha.  Oh I can't wait.  Good times ahead.

Just admit that if he was still your coach you would still be loving him like you were before.

Of course we would support our coach.  Just like if he still was our coach Kentucky fans would be bashing him calling a cheater.  But right now Memphis fans are happy with our new coach.  I don't know if you've seen our recruiting class for 2010 but it's looking pretty good right now.

Blaby.  Faved and 1d Laughing Your mindless Kentucky blabering is entertaining to me.  Can't wait to see more this season.

I'm back! I know you missed me. Agreed cwisetiger, let's slow it down on the hype for 2010 -2011 . Bottom line I read that Cal's offer was going to more at Memphis and he still came to Kentucky. Even if UK's was more, what is an extra million about what Memphis was prepared to pay him? Nice quote Memphis Rulez. Can't wait to come back on the boards during the season(when the real talking happens). You all better get your pathetic shots in now. Just admit that if he was still your coach you would still be loving him like you were before. And you all made it all the way to the title game! Once. Umm, with 7 titles I know we've been to at least that many right? lol. Rick Pitino, who had success at non-big six conferences had not won a title until he came to...........Kentucky. Once Memphis becomes a great program (more than one great coach) then you talk all the hype and trash you want. GO CATS!!!

While I think this is another feather in Pastner’s cap, I’m betting he won’t get the credit he deserves.  The fact that two of the big recruits are local guys will cause most casual fans to assume it was easy to get them to sign with Memphis.  What most outside of the city don’t realize is the extent the relationship between UofM and the city schools had degraded during Coach Cal’s tenure.  It was probably actually harder for Coach Pastner to get the local guys than the Bartons.  OK, maybe not, but I’m sure it wasn’t easy.

If Coach Pastner can keep getting most of the top players within the city and just a few top national recruits every few years, it bodes well for the future of the program.  Of course, it also depends on if he can actually coach.  I guess we’re about to find out. Smile

Nice get for Pastner and company, but some of my fellow Tiger fans sound like UK fans. Tone down the hype just a bit. We still need to add some big men; Tarik's not enough.

See your learning, it's better to sit there with a dumb look on your face and let everyone assume your and idiot than to open your mouth and remove all doubt.
