Report: Wall's eligibility in question

Kentucky freshman John Wall is facing eligibility issues because of his relationship with Brian Clifton, ESPN.com's Dana O'Neil and Pat Forde reported Thursday. According to the story, UK officials are "working feverishly" to clarify the situation, which stems from the fact that Clifton was a certified agent while also coaching Wall's summer league team.

CBSSports.com reported Clifton's background as an agent in August 2008.

He was the point man in Wall's recruitment.

CBSSports.com could not immediately reach UK coach John Calipari for comment. But a source familiar with the situation told CBSSports.com that Kentucky officials are confident the most likely scenario has Wall repaying an undetermined amount of money (for expenses Clifton incurred while accompanying Wall on unofficial visits) and possibly missing "a few games, maybe three or four." Kentucky's first four games are against Morehead State, Miami-Ohio, Sam Houston State and Rider. The Wildcats won't play a team ranked in the preseason Top 25 (and one) until they face No. 5 North Carolina on Dec. 5.

CBSSports.com tabbed Wall as its "Preseason National Player of the Year" earlier this month.

He is expected to be the No. 1 pick in next June's NBA Draft.

Report: Wall's eligibility in question

No need to clear anything up, I know who UK beat to get to the final game. That was part of my point, would the same be said if DUKE would have lost in the Championship game? The racism stuff in college sports and American in general gets brought to the top more often than not. It just seems that it's only "ok" to do when UK is being mentioned.

I did like Tubby, it is a Cal thing more than it is a UK thing, your program doesn't need another road block anytime soon, players who are potential trouble you don't need either. I think UK fans have a right to be excited, who wouldn't? The fans are passionate, and seemed to be classy the real ones who attend the games, some of these that post are unreal. I love UNC as much as you love UK but at least I call it the way I see it, my other posts I have mentioned we don't have a final 4 team, least I don't think we do, we will struggle at the point this year, sweet 16 maybe the next step is what we are looking at, at best. I try to be honest about my team, you have been decent about it all, but geeez. I think you guys go deep in the tournament, or should, I think our game on dec 5 is a toss up, you guys have young talent and a good big man in Patterson, we have a point question mark but a huge post presence, I think you guys might would get us in late Feb we might get you in Dec, I was suprised we are your first real test, we get Michigan State before you guys, I hope we have the legs that early in the season to keep up, and we have Ohio St before them and Texas after you, so a big stretch for a young point, good luck to you as well.,

Report: Wall's eligibility in question

I agree, our fanbase can be a little crazy at times, but it's all about passion.  The people in Kentucky, we eat, sleep, and breath Kentucky Basketball.  It's something that only someone like myself can explain, or maybe I can't explain it.  I've lived in Kentucky my whole life.  Ever since I was a child, I can remember, that when the Cats were on, everything else stopped.  Don't get me wrong, I know that there is more to life than Kentucky Basketball, but that's just how it is around here.  So when people say that our expectations are too high, or we are ranting about John Wall being the second coming, it makes me laugh.  That's what Kentucky Basketball is all about, fans set high expectations and worship the players.  It's been that way for as long as I have been around, and it will be that way until the end of time.  We could have the worst team in the country, and we would still feel like we could win it all becasue we have Kentucky across our chest.  Everyone has their own opinion about Coach Cal.  Kentucky haters say that "he will get us in trouble, and he cheats to win".  Kentucky fans will support him and believe that he is the man to bring this program back to the top.  It's been nice debating with you.  Good Luck this year.

Report: Wall's eligibility in question

I do hate UK with a passion, no doubt about that, and one of the reasons why is because of the delusional fanbase, I hate Duke too just not as bad, but I give them their due and I do for UK. I have ranted on other threads on how classy the fans treated me at Rupp several years ago when I attended the UK/UNC game, and I was a UNC fan because it was on me head to toe, and I loved Tubby, he was a good coach and ran a truly clean program, he just was not a great recruiter, but you guys ran him off for the A&M guy? Not good and meanwhile Tubby has Minnesota in the the top 20 now, now that's good coaching because that was a dead program. I don't hate Wall, he is a great young prospect, but the fanbase already has him winning the NC, not so much you best I can tell but the other fans rant about him like he is the second coming and he hasn't done ****. I use to love watching Mercer and Bogans play for UK and the teams of the early nineties, good stuff. I am not a fan of Cal, he's sneaky and will get that program in trouble, but he gets wins and you guys back in the tournament, guess that what matters the most, and that is what the UK fanbase is all about.

Report: Wall's eligibility in question

I guess NBA scouts don't know what they are doing.  Wall is going to be a to 3 pick in next years draft, if not #1.  Ty Lawson was a great player, and if it wasn't for him Carolina wouldn't have won the title.  I just don't understand why you have so much hate towards Wall.  Is it because he chose Kentucky over Carolina?  By the way, Wall is the NCAA's problem and not yours or anyone else on this board.  So why do you love to talk about Wall and not Maggette?  Oh well, there is no getting through to someone who is blinded by their hatred of another program, coach, or player.

Report: Wall's eligibility in question

Let's take one thing at a time. Jerry Stackhouse has had about 4 knee surgeries and in his mid-30's, that makes me laugh. Lawson is faster than Wall with the BALL, I live in NC, I've seen Wall play. now, back to Lawson, he can hit the three, drive to the basket and get the foul and complete with free throw, deadly on the line, plays defense, steals and is a great passer, look up his assists, he is the total package, and was totally dominate in the tournament, totally, no one could stop him period, Wall can't do half of that as we speak. He can dribble fast and drive, that's it period. he will foul out alot if he doesn't control that. Coach K might hum on it, Cal needs to take some lessons from him cause he will need to learn how to do that to stay out of trouble. Cory maggette is the NCAA's problem, not mine, maybe it's not at all what you think.

Report: Wall's eligibility in question

This has nothing to do with Wall being in trouble.   Tell me why the NCAA has swept the Corey Maggette situation under the rug?  How come Players, Fans, and the University of Duke gets off smelling like a rose.  I'll tell you why.  Your boy Coach K sucks the NCAA's D!*(.  Heck, he even does their commercials for them.  I'm not saying that he isn't a good guy or coach, but he isn't completely innocent either.

Wall is faster than Lawson.  If you haven't seen him, then don't compare.  The difference between the two is, Wall takes it to the rack and dunks on people.  He's already dunked on former Tarheel great, Jerry Stackhouse.  If you haven't seen it, go to Youtube and you will find it.  Yes I'm excited, because actually, we haven't had a lot to be excited about.  I am optimistic though.  I am not saying that we will make the Final Four or win a National Championship, but we will be a factor again.
