NCAA clears UC freshman Stephenson
The NCAA has cleared Cincinnati freshman Lance Stephenson to play immediately, UC coach Mick Cronin told CBSSports.com on Thursday afternoon.
"Clear," Cronin texted to CBSSports.com. "No games."
Stephenson came off the bench Thursday night and made 4-of-14 shots in the Bearcats' 86-58 exhibition victory over Saginaw Valley State. He finished with nine points and four rebounds in 18 minutes. Earlier this week, CBSSports.com named Stephenson, a 6-foot-5 guard, the Big East Preseason Newcomer of the Year. He'll make his national television debut on Nov. 23 when the Bearcats play Vanderbilt in the Maui Invitational.

NCAA clears UC freshman StephensonA reply worthy of your rating. You are correct in that the face value of the circumstance cannot be explained away and disrtracted by the racism accusation which is the reflex defense in these cases.

NCAA clears UC freshman StephensonTime out! Renardo Sidney has not been cleared to play anywhere near an NCAA division I school. As of Friday afternoon, the NCAA was still reviewing personal finance information regarding the Sidney family.
Let's be clear about the details of the Sidney case. The NCAA has asked the family for bank, income, and tax paperwork because the family apparently moved from a modest home and are now renting TWO homes in the pricey Fairfax district of Los Angeles. All this movement occurred while both parents were not working and Sidney was playing on the AAU circuit this summer. Sidney has been allowed to enroll in classes but is not cleared to play ball with any NCAA school. This is not a race issue and should not be presented as one. The Sidney family has, on the surface, moved from one residence in a part of the country with a much lower cost of living and has moved into one with a much higher cost of living all while nobody in the family is working. This is beyond strange. It invites the scrutiny of the NCAA when Sidney was one of the more highly-recruited players coming into college ball this season. Don't wave the race card, it holds no credibility here. |

NCAA clears UC freshman StephensonYour post is about as credible as ACORN....First of all, Stephenson and Sidney were cleared academically months ago..Their eligibilty decisions are based on their amateur status ..how can you make any informed refernce to their SAT? Do you have personal information or were you making assumptions based on the color of their skin? |

NCAA clears UC freshman StephensonI don't know where you have been hiding, but you haven't followed college basketball if you think that the Univ of Cinti has ever gotten special treatment from the NCAA. I can go way back to LaSalle Thompson or numerous occasions when Huggins was coach where UC was given harsh treatment. Calapari is a fine coach BUT he is sleezy and in the next couple years, he will prove it at UK with questionable activities in his recruiting.

NCAA clears UC freshman StephensonI am really glad for the players that they were cleared. I have no respect for the NCAA because of their underhanded way of doing things. It is beyond the veil of deniability that BCS schools are treated differently than schools outside the BCS. I am ready to lay odds on the results of the Memphis appeal. If Memphis joins the Big East the appeal will be successful. If Memphis does not join the Big East, the appeal will fail. For non-Memphis fans, if you think this is sour grapes, wait and see.

NCAA clears UC freshman StephensonThe NCAA needs to be investigated, seriously, because they allow certain schools to do whatever the H@!! they want and other schools, such as Memphis, gets investigated about something that happened 2 years ago. I mean Rose was still in high school at the time and Memphis gets punish for the same thing Cory Magette did at Duke, inwhich, he admitted of accepting money from an agent and nothing was done about it. The NCAA needs to clean it's house, or maybe the NCAA is ran by, Duke, North Carolina, and Kansas Alumni. Now, Lance is being cleared to play, who had his fair share of trouble, while Derrick gets accused after the fact. I guess since Memphis had the best record in NCAA history, they decided that they couldn't allow that to happen. C'mon man!!!! |

The NCAA is about as credible as ACORN. It's getting ridiculous. |

You sound redundant and frankly a little boring. Calipari is as safe as he will ever be. At UK he won't have to resort to questionable tactics to recruit as others do. With an NBA style Calipari DDMotion offense, 100% National CBS Sports/ESPN television coverage, 2nd to NONE Basketball facilities, and top-of-the mountain Basketball history, UK get's 5-star looks and visitation request WITHOUT having to offer AAU coaches camp jobs or relocating parents to brand new homes. Allow me to be redundant for a moment . . . . . UK gets 100% National televised coverage so everyone gets to see John Wall conduct ceremonies this year!
