The USF basketball program has committed numerous NCAA rules violations over the past months, a report by Brett McMurphy at FanHouse.com alleged Wednesday night.

Most of the alleged violations involve USF video and conditioning assistant Terrelle Woody. He was hired last August in a non-coaching position as part of a package deal to ensure the enrollment of Maryland transfer Gus Gilchrist. The alleged violations include Woody providing transportation to student-athletes, watching "open gyms," coaching players and illegally working out USF players.

USF coach Stan Heath either denied all allegations or said he had no knowledge of them.

McMurphy is a former USF beat writer for the Tampa Tribune .

Heath is in his third season at USF.

Report: NCAA violations at USF

Yeah,  what ever happened with the Uconn recruiting debacle?  That seemed to just fade away yet appeared much more serious at the time.  And I seem to remember little Northeastern getting slapped with a violation at the same time.

Seems the NCAA will slap the little guys for show but their money makers get the "get out of jail free" cards.  Non profit, my eye!

Selective Enforcement?

How much of this happens all across the country?

This seems to me like "let's attack the little guy, but make sure it's a little guy from a BCS-affiliated conference so we can pretend we're investigating a major program."  What is a program like South Florida supposed to do?  The big boys cheat, so how are they to attract anyone WITHOUT cheating?

Maybe that's paranoia talking, but come on.  South Florida?  They do probably have their best roster in a long time.  But what is it gonna do?

To me the bigger issue might be the thefts.  Players stealing from other players and the coach sitting on it?  Not cool.  But then, that's not among the "NCAA violations" that don't matter at all.

Does this crap go on everywhere and it only gets reported occasionally or are these people really that stupid?

NEWS FLASH: In this day and age all college atheletes are watched all the time, people have cell phones, cameras that shoot video on their cell phones, these guys live in a fish bowl.  There is no way someone can do this stuff and no one notice.

Since arriving at USF, Woody has provided transportation to Gilchrist so frequently around town and to and from campus that USF's players joked that Woody was Gilchrist's "personal valet."There's something wrong with that?
