ANAHEIM, Calif. -- Class of 2011 standout Brad Beal announced Monday that he plans to play college basketball at Florida, adding to the great run Billy Donovan is experiencing.

On Friday night, Florida beat Michigan State.

On Saturday night, Florida cruised past Rutgers.

On Sunday night, Florida debuted at No. 10 in the Top 25 (and one.) And on Monday morning, Florida landed one of, if not the best, shooting guard in the Class of 2011. Beal, ranked No. 10 overall in the Class of 2011, chose Florida, according to Scout.com, over Kansas, Missouri and Illinois. He's the second Class of 2011 star to commit to the Gators, joining Austin Rivers (although it should be noted that Rivers, ranked No. 4 overall in the Class of 2011, has visited Duke since committing to Florida and is by all accounts considering the Blue Devils).

Class of 2011 star Beal picks Florida

6'5" by his frosh year? He still has 1.5 years before he plays for us...Unless his body is different than most people in the world he will continue to grow and make the biggest leap in size strength and athleticism in the next two or three years since he turned 15...  Not a bad place to be in at the three in our system... We have been getting longer every year since the 04's left and basically left us as a severely undersized team... That means that even if he is small for small forward in he NBA he will still be more than capable as a college player... For god's sakes Werner was playing Power Forward most of the time...

We played FSU with an undersized lineup against maybe the longest team in the nation and won rather easily besides an 8 minute stretch in the second half...

If you are judging all recruits by where they would project as a HS senior to where they will be in the pros then Matt Elam will be a RB in the pro's... Joe haden will be a QB in the Pro's as well as Cornelius Ingram.  Most Pro Linebackers would be running backs or safeties...

Bottomline... he will get bigger stronger and faster....

he will be 6'5" or 6'6" easily and can easily be a three in Billy D's style of play...

I hope he likes to run!

Really? You think he'll be a Small Forward? I don't see it, He's 6-3, 170. He's a short Shooting Guard using NBA Standards, anyway, let alone a Small Forward. He would probably need to be around 6-7 and 210 pounds or so to be a Small Forward. In College, they could play him at the 3, but he'd better be at least 6-5 or there will be some mismatches against better squads.

Once again Beal will be playing small forward by the time it is all said and done... He grows another 2 inches by the time he hits college...

UGA- I don't know what ranking system Parrish uses, but according to Rivals Beal is 7th and Rivers is 8th.

I rely on Rivals more than scout.com or ESPN Scout's. That's just a personal preference. Regardless, they're both supreme talents and unless one played an off-position, they couldn't occupy the court at the same time, thus the second fiddle, or at least split time, reference.

Doc Rivers said on Boston Radio that he wants Austin to go to Duke.  The Florida commitment was a premature move by a 16 year old.

Magic, what I can't seem to understand is your second fiddle reasoning. You say that Rivers will play second fiddle to Beal, however, Beal is ranked 10th and Rivers is ranked 4th. Just trying to understand that...

1st of all they wouldn't play the same position at the next level and second Austin has said several times he is going where Beal is...

Beal has only a positive recruiting affect on Rivers.  The only commitment that will affect Rivers is when Brandon Knight signs with the Gators in the Spring.

I don't care either way, but the way you continue to go on about whatever recruit and spend propably more than an hour typing what you have to say.  Get OVER IT!!!!!   Who cares Magic!!!!!!!!!!!   Tell me if I'm wrong????  You must be a loser living in your folks basement for you to be going on and on and on and on about this stupid crap. Again, this was discussed on as a possibility on a recruiting board a while back. I already had all this information.. Just copy and paste comments by Rivers from an interview, and it doesn't take very long. Maybe I put a bit too much emphasis on the "YES!".. Sorry about that, trust me I wasn't jumping out of my chair yelling when I typed that. Again, it's difficult to convey tone on an internet blog, but I wasn't insulting anyone in my post, so there's really no need to insult me on this blog unless you feel the need to make yourself feel better. If that's the case, more power to you, it won't affect my life at all.
