My breakdown of the Big Ten/ACC Challenge

Posted on: December 1, 2009 4:03 pm
Score: 122

The Big Ten/ACC Challenge resumes Tuesday night with five games.

I've got the Big Ten winning the event for the first time.

I actually predicted the games early last month.

I'll stay true to those picks here.
  • Penn State at Virginia (I took Penn State )
  • Wake Forest at Purdue (I'll take Purdue )
  • Northwestern at N.C. State (I'll take Northwestern )
  • Maryland at Indiana (I'll take Maryland )
  • Michigan State at North Carolina (I'll take North Carolina )
  • Virginia Tech at Iowa (I'll take Virginia Tech )
  • Illinois at Clemson (I'll take Clemson )
  • Minnesota at Miami (I'll take Minnesota )
  • Boston College at Michigan (I'll take Michigan )
  • Duke at Wisconsin (I'll take Duke )
  • Florida State at Ohio State (I'll take Ohio State )
The Big Ten's official blog has facts about each matchup.

My breakdown of the Big Ten/ACC Challenge

The Pac-10 stinks. The Big 12 wins in a cakewalk. No need for Nostradamas on that one.

My breakdown of the Big Ten/ACC Challenge

No one cares about the Big 12/Pac-10 Hardwood Series.  How about playing the event in one weekend?  It's hard to follow when the ten games span four weeks.

Who gives a crap about the Big 12 - Pac 10 Hardwood series? It's like off-brand Cheetos--all the orangeness but none of the crunchy goodness.
Seriously though, could you ask for a more lopsided competition between two BCS conferences than the Big 12 and the Pac 10? And before you get all demanding about equal time, I think the series needs to show it's worth watching.

My breakdown of the Big Ten/ACC Challenge

If I remember correctly, you guys got your payback the following season. Steve Blake hit a half court shot at the buzzer that would have won it but they said he released it after the buzzer. Instead it went to overtime and the Hoosiers won.

I found the boxscore here: http://sports.espn.go.com/ncb/boxsc

My breakdown of the Big Ten/ACC Challenge

Gary, I hope Indiana surprises you. The Hoosier youngsters will get a lift from a packed Assembly Hall white out and I don't believe the Terps have the type of power post players that will cause us problems. I realize most will be watching the WF/PU and MSU/NC games but I'll be watching the Hoosiers notch their first decent win under Coach Crean. It's time for a little Atlanta Final Four payback!

My breakdown of the Big Ten/ACC Challenge

Gary,

Did you bother to pick the Big 12 - PAC 10 Hardwood Series, too???? Or is this yet another example of East Coast snobbery??? Wink

Check and mate!
