UCLA center Drew Gordon is transferring, coach Ben Howland announced at his Tuesday press conference.

"This is not a spur-of-the-moment thing," Howland said, according to the Los Angeles Times . Gordon is a former Top 50 prospect averaging 11.2 points and 5.3 rebounds per game. Those numbers ranked third and second on the team.

UCLA is 2-4 with losses to Cal State-Fullerton, Portland, Butler and Long Beach State.

The Bruins next play Sunday against top-ranked Kansas.

Ok this is for HelloNewman. Get your facts straight. You should know your arch rivals teams initials. Kansas is KU. Kentucky is UK. Anyone with a basic IQ should know this. By your logic, Kansas State would be UKS instead of KSU.

hmmm... UK wasn't founded until 1865, BUT Kentucky was home to several colleges by then, including Transylvania University which was founded in 1780 (long before we officially became the USA) and Georgetown College in 1787! Long before the Hoyas school!

Diva Mentality

So he transfers out of UCLA in the midst of absolutley terrible losses.  I wouldn't be surprised if the thought of only wanting to play on a winning team crossed Drew Gordon's mind.  Being a good college basketball player not only involves winning games, but also learning from mistakes and making improvements when you lose.

KU and UK are not acronyms. They are abbreviations for the schools letters. They don't spell anything do they? If they don't, they are not acronyms.
