Wall cramps, still secures UK win

John Wall can make free throws with leg cramps.

This, we learned Saturday.

Because the freshman point guard sank a pair of free throws with four seconds remaining to secure Kentucky's 68-66 victory over North Carolina. It was the second time in three games Wall has made clutch free throws. So if John Calipari ends up in a situation where he needs single points to secure, say, a national championship, I suspect he'll be fine this time around. In the meantime, Calipari better get as many fluids as possible into Wall's body, because Wall was limited greatly by cramps in the second half against UNC, and the Wildcats are nowhere close to as explosive without Wall as they are with him.

This, we also learned Saturday.

But before Wall started cramping, he was his usual sensational self, so much so that he became a "Trending Tropic " on Twitter, which garnered respect even from those at rival schools. "Yo...John Wall is a trending topic," Tweeted Tennessee sophomore Renaldo Woolridge . "Gotta give props when they r due...thats league ." Wall finished with 16 points, seven assists and five rebounds.

Another thing about Wall: When he gets an outlet pass on the run, I noticed, he looks like a tailback taking a pitch from a quarterback, like Reggie Bush in a USC uniform flying around and past everybody. Sometimes Wall loses control (that's partly why he finished with seven turnovers), and he'll have to figure that out as he progresses. But watching him run the break might be the most exciting thing you can watch any college basketball player do this season. So I'd advise you to do it whenever possible, and I can't wait to see Wall do it live at Madison Square Garden against Connecticut on Wednesday night.

Hopefully, he'll down plenty of fluids between now and then.

Wall cramps, still secures UK win

What about Eric Bledsoe?  He's getting overlooked and he came in and knocked down some huge free throws.  Furthermore, he hurt his ankle prior to the game and still played through.  The truth is, no disrespect to UNC (as they are the #2 program of all-time and the best of the 2000's), the game would have been a 15 or 20 point game if Wall and Bledsoe were healthy.  We didn't have a point guard to get the ball down the floor and the UNC D was able to collapse on Patterson in the second half.

Parrish, may you make all the doubters eat their words.  You have received a lot of heat about your endorsements of Kentucky and John Wall.  I think you (and Dick Vitale are right).

UK and KU in the finals!

Go CATS!

jason wells, you are an idiot, and everybody on the Cats forum agrees, that's why you never post there anymore. I don't agree.

Yes we are over-rated, we will learn and develope into our ranking if we keep winning, but i think UK will lose a couple games first, especially early sec play when on the road, and will end up around a 16 rank midway, and then by tourny time, maybe work their way back up to 7th to 10th.
So, you say we are overrated?  Which teams, other than Kansas deserves to be ranked ahead of Kentucky?  Which teams have beaten us?  How many games has Mich State, Duke, UNC and others lost?  Do you believe they should still be ranked ahead of us?

Parrish and Dick Vitale both have said that Kentucky will be playing Kansas in the finals this year.  I don't understand why you would call a Kentucky fan an idiot, especially when he has expert's company in his belief of Kentucky and, especially, when you have an "e" at the end of develop.

Stop attacking Kentucky fans!  Go CATS!

Wall cramps, still secures UK win

Gary's always been one to hype up freshman talent.  And UK's full of it.

What I really don't understand is how Michigan State stayed above UNC in the AP and coaches polls after losing to UNC and beating Wofford in a game that stayed pretty close, whereas UNC beat Michigan St and then made a huge comeback effort against Kentucky to lose what could have been a blowout but turned into a nail biter.

I wouldn't compare Wall to Reggie Bush from USC, because Bush took a bunch of money from a booster to play for USC, unless your doing it on purpose! I know your a big North Carolina and Duke fan! UK is back and I know you can't stand it, so don't sugar coat it!

I guess you just decided to completely overlook the rest of the boxscore.  Patterson was 2-2 on free throws, Dodson was 1-2 and Bledsoe was 5-6.  Cousins had most of those misses himself going 1-5.

Wall cramps -- scares Gary Parrish

It's a good thing John Wall was able to make free throws today, because nobody else on the floor could.  Take away Wall's 5-for-7 and the rest of Kentucky was 9 of 15.  I've said it since day one and I'll keep saying it.  John Calipari better work with this team on free throws or they are guaranteed to lose a big game on the road late in the season.  Learn from your mistakes now before they become too costly.  For as much as I despise the Tar Heels, I guarantee they will spend hours shooting from the charity strips the next few days after their abysmal performance.  7 of 13 from the line will never be on the winning side of the scoreboard in the big games.

There's no denying Wall is an awesome talent to watch.  He's also a turnover machine running up and down the court.  The coaching staff of Kentucky better address that before things get consistently troublesome.

Memo to Roy Williams, this year's edition of UNC basketball is nowhere near as good as last year's.  Get used to bad losses against talented teams.

Wall cramps, still secures UK win

You call yourself a "crazy" UK fan?  Really?  We just beat Carolina and they've taken the last 5!  You talk like you might be a secret Louisville fan and I am crazy about ridicuously talented freshmen!  We were a little overrated, but after the win today and basketball being weak this year anyway we are definitely top 10!  You sound alot like Kyle Macy when he commentates.  For some reason he has something negative to say about everything we do!
