South Carolina forward Dominique Archie will undergo season-ending knee surgery.

"Despite the encouraging response from his rehab, it was determined that he will not be able to reach full strength without surgery," said South Carolina coach Darrin Horn. "Our number one priority throughout this process has been Dominique and his best interests, for his future as an individual and a basketball player. We will continue to support and encourage him in any way we can."

Archie suffered what was described as a right knee sprain against Miami on Nov. 22.
He averaged 14.4 points and 6.0 rebounds in five games played this season.

Man i dont even know what to think about this

they better give him a medical redshirt if he puts in for it but I'm not sure he wants it. He has a kid. If he gets healthy in time to attend camps and stuff like that he'll probably go pro.

I Feel Terrible for Archie and the USC BBall Team

This was supposed to be the year the Gamecocks finally got it turned around, but with Archie and Holmes going down, this season has been a trainwreck.

I feel awful for Archie.  A great young man of excellent character.  He deserves to get a medical redshirt, but the NCAA has proven that they are a bunch of souless tight-asses when it comes to giving medical redshirts.  If that is the case then this young man's great career is done.  Simply terrible, considering he withdrew his name from the NBA draft to come back.
