Thinking about the Top 25 (and one)

LEXINGTON, Ky. -- I'm about to head to the airport and fly home after 36 hours in Lexington that included a fun basketball game played Saturday at Rupp Arena. Kentucky remained undefeated with a 71-62 victory over Louisville, meaning the top three of the Top 25 (and one) -- No. 1 Kansas, No. 2 Kentucky, No. 3 Texas -- will remain intact while Purdue finally cracks my top four.

(Better late than never, right?)

Who's No. 5?

It'll be Duke if the Blue Devils handle Clemson tonight.

Otherwise, it's probably Villanova.

Either way, that's tonight.

Till then, wish me safe travels.

I agree that Duke should be the Top 5 team if they beat Clemson tonight.  that would separate as the best one-loss team in the country.  They'll have three wins against ranked teams, should they beat Clemson.  Nova is a good team but there are a lot of questions about Villanova.  I put Duke as my Number 5 team while writing my sports blog college basketball weekly preview entry for tomorrow. But if they lose to Clemson that would completely change my Top 10  Check back to my blog tomorrow to read it!

I hope it's the Duke Blue who are in at number 5.  They're playing well and should take care of Clemson at Cameron.

Please do me a favor and do NOT turn around on Pitt for this one game.  LEave them out as you have been counseling voters to do for like a month.

I'm as pleased as any Pitt fan, but I get the feeling that the Panthers will be making an (undeserved) appearance in the media polls because they won @ Syracuse.  They're not a Top 25 team.  They're a bubble team, and this win might end up going a long way toward deciding what side of the bubble they're on in a couple months.  But they don't need anything that will make them overconfident with the stretch of games they have coming up:

@ Cincinnati
@ Connecticut
Louisville
Georgetown
@ Seton Hall
St. John's

...yeah...
