North Carolina didn't foul up three in the closest seconds and paid the price.

Pittsburgh got another huge road win.

Here's Tuesday's What You Need To Know:

Notable game from Monday: Andrew Goudelock sank a 3-pointer to tie the score at the end of regulation, then helped Charleston jump on North Carolina in the extra period and record an 82-79 win over the No. 9 Tar Heels. UNC was up 11 points with less than four minutes to go in regulation. But Charleston closed on a 12-1 run and made Roy Williams the latest coach to suffer for not fouling when ahead by three points late in a game. The win was Charleston's first over a Top 25 team since 1998. The Cougars are now 8-6. UNC is 11-4.

Notable performance from Monday: Ashton Gibbs got 19 points on six field goal attempts and led Pitt to a 74-71 win at Cincinnati. The sophomore was 4-of-6 from the field and 10-of-11 from the free throw line. He's now scored at least 19 in four of his past five outings. Gibbs' season-high is the 24 he put on Syracuse last Saturday.

Notable game scheduled for Tuesday:
Two of the best from a Mountain West Conference that could earn four NCAA tournament bids will meet when No. 15 New Mexico plays at San Diego State. New Mexico is 14-1 with wins over Texas A&M, Texas Tech and Dayton. San Diego State is 11-3 with a win over Arizona. Tip-off is at 10:30 p.m. ET.

John Calipari thinks it was ridiculous that Roy Williams didn't have them foul.

What You Need To Know

There are certain situations where I certainly understand fouling when up 3. Yesterday's UNC-CofC game was not one of them. If Ed Davis wanted to safely foul Goudelock without risking a three-shot foul, he would have had to do so with about 6-7 seconds left (given that Goudelock released the shot with 4.5 left). For the sake of argument, lets say the Ed Davis somehow knew exactly when Goudelock would shoot and could foul him at 5 seconds left with no risk. You'd be sending a career 82-83% foul shooter to the line with time to either steal an inbound pass or foul again with at least three seconds left, plenty of time to get a good shot off. If UNC missed either free throw, that puts CofC in position to possibly win in regulation. I'll take my chances with a 28-foot rainbow shot over Ed Davis everytime.

Hey Gary in all honesty, Where do you put the heels after their loss to C of C. I know your a Duke hater but lets put that aside, I would say 20 spot, keep in mind this is their fourth loss and yes 3 of their 4 losses were to good teams but what does that show, That they cant play up to that level of talent quiet yet. When they made the run on UK John Wall was on the bench. Syracuse beat them in all aspects of the game. Now Texas game was close but im still on the fence about Texas, Dont know if they are the truth or just played the same UNC team that lost to C of C. Let me know were you would place the Heels.

"San Diego State is 11-3 with a win over Arizona." To beat AZ at home is all of a sudden supposed to mean something? AZ had no road wins lst year, has a new coach and mostly young and very inexperienced players. You have also never that I have noticed seemed to be in the least bit impressed with this years team. Fantastic to notice that you suddenly seem to feel that beating AZ is a win of note.
