Here's Wednesday's What You Need To Know:

Notable game from Tuesday: Trey Thompkins scored 20 points to lead Georgia to a 73-66 win over  No. 20 Georgia Tech and give first-year Bulldogs coach Mark Fox his biggest victory to date in Athens. "It means a lot to beat Georgia Tech and it means a lot to win a rivalry game," Fox said at his postgame press conference. "It's a big win for us in a lot of ways, and I told the kids to leave the gym feeling good about themselves, because they deserve it." Georgia is now 8-5. Georgia Tech is 11-3.

Notable performance from Tuesday: Luke Harangody took 23 shots, made 13 and hit a free throw with 1.9 seconds remaining to finish with a season-high 36 points in Notre Dame's 74-73 win over South Florida. Harangody was 4-of-5 from 3-point range. He's now averaging 25.0 points and 9.8 rebounds.

What You Need To Know

That, boogieboy, is exactly what I'm talking about: that's the sort of thing we need to know.  New Mexico is the new Gonzaga, and yet they're not even favored to win against a team most people know nothing about?  (And let's be honest: most people know nothing about San Diego State other than that it might be in San Diego.)  How is this so?  And if SDSU is so good, why aren't they ranked?  Isn't this exactly the sort of thing people like Parrish are supposed to be telling us, educating us about, so to speak?  He gets paid to follow college hoops in detail, yet SDSU slips under the radar because we're busy watching Luke Harangody put up numbers in a crap game somewhere?  Oy, vey.

What You Need To Know

SDSU would beat most of the teams in the top 25 at home. They opened up at a 3 point favorite and were bet up to a 4.5 point favorite. New Mexico wasn't expected to win this game.

What You Need To Know

What You Need To Know

What?  We don't need to know that for all the harping about how New Mexico was for real and everyone *had* to have them in their Top Ten they just took their second loss in four games, and to a lightweight San Diego squad at that?  How can we *not* need to know that, while Luke Harangody's performance is vital?  The guy's a good player, but ND is insignificant on the hoops landscape this year.
