Cameron Tatum and Melvin Goins will be reinstated to the Tennessee basketball team Sunday.

Brian Williams will remain on indefinite suspension.

"While I can’t comment on specifics, the degree of discipline applied reflects levels of individual involvement based on the investigation, as well as UT’s judicial affairs process," said Tennessee coach Bruce Pearl. "I do want to thank our fans for their patience as we have worked—and continue to work—through this."

CBSSports.com reported Tuesday , citing a source, that Tyler Smith (already dismissed from the team) had taken responsibility for the guns found in a rental car Smith, Tatum, Goins and Williams occupied Jan. 1, and that Williams had taken responsibility for the marijuana. The source said then that charges against Tatum and Goins were expected to be dropped, and that Tatum and Goins -- both of whom, according to a source, passed drug tests after their arrest -- would soon be reinstated.

Williams will also have an opportunity for reinstatement.

It should come later this season, the source said.

The ninth-ranked Vols are 13-2 heading into Saturday's game with No. 21 Ole Miss.

Tatum and Goins will be available for Tuesday night's game against Alabama.

It is ironic that Arenas plays for the team formerly known as the Bullets.

Have to agree with you there, how many coaches do you know would kick their best player off the team...Tyler Smith really screwed up....Probably should have went pro, him an Arenas would have had a good time in the NBA.....maybe they can get their own D-league team, call themselves the Washingtenn Gunslingers

Vols' Goins and Tatum to be reinstated Sunday

In the post game press conference, Pearl said all three had been "disciplined" during the last week.  He chuckled a bit and then said the Brain Williams had been "disciplined" so much that he has lost 10 pounds since the incident.  He also said that both Tatum and Goins understand that they are strating from the bottom up to earn playing time.  The most important thing is that they can go back to practicing, so the Vols have some depth to practice against.  Also, add in the transfer Maymon and now at least they can play 5 on 5 again at practice and it have some value.

Personally, if William's suspension last the rest of the season it would suit me fine.  The guy had a great opportunity at UT simply because of his height and he chose to waste it.  Maybe an entire season suspension will teach him that lesson.  No wonder he couldn't loose those last 20 pounds before.  Hard to lose weight when you got the munchies.

I didn't realize Nazis like playmaker had the mental capacity to use a computer, my bad. Seriously dude, lay off the anti-semetic comments. Additionally, Pearl is great for the game and a class act. I don't know too many coaches who would kick off their best player mid-season.

Mjamamammymammy...maybe Memphis will be getting an asterisk for all their success the last few years while Capillari had all those recruiting violations. Suck it up. At least your beating came early this year unlike last years.

gaymaker,

your an idiot. Pearl kicked off the best player on the team. UT football is a premier program and has been for a long time kid. UT Bball is on the ris under Pearl and will no doubt be a sweet 16 team again this year. Take your trash talk and ridiculous comments elsewhere.
