I'm feeling better about my UNI little man's syndrome now that UNI is ranked # 20 in the AP and # 22 in the USA Today Coachers Poll.  Still doesn't matter, that ranking isn't going to help them win at Wichita State on Tuesday night.  A big road win is what they need.  GO PANTHERS!!!
This team deserves it, they returned all their starters from last year's NCAA Tournament team that lost a tough one to Purdue in the first round.  Their 7-footer, the "Bellevue Beast" is improved as are the other returning players.
Let's make this year's dance last a little longer.

Are you really crying foul about one spot difference?  Geez.

Who cares if your if your Orange are ranked behind Duke one slot?

Just be happy that SU is ranked in the top 5 with the schedule they have played.

I have to say you are my favorite columnist and I agree with a lot of the stuff you write but I don't understand how you can rank Duke ahead of Syracuse!  Syracuse has one loss (granted at home) to a team (Pitt) ranked higher than either team that Duke has lost to (Wisconsin and Georgia Tech).  Plus Syracuse has been two top 25+1 teams (#11 W. VA, #24 UNC) whereas Duke has beat #14 Gonzaga, #15 Clemson.  I can see their bodies of work are pretty close but I still think Syracuse looks better.

I think you're right, Marty. Gary gives a ton more respect to mid-majors than most national columnists. He often wrote about Butler BEFORE the hype train got behind Butler, and over the last few seasons, he has celebrated the likes of WKU, Drake, Southern Illinois, Siena (just teams I can think of). He even defended Creighton early in the season when they were losing games nobody expected them to lose. The MVC, Horizon League, SoCon, Summit League, etc all get more coverage and more praise on this website than on many others. To say he is biased against UNI is just ridiculous.

While I do think Butler is a quality team, they get recongnition based upon there name also. Xavier and Ohio State are "quality" wins. However, they also only beat Evansville the worst team in the Valley by 4. And for Northwestern, I admitt I have trouble believe this team is good based upon the fact that they always fall apart in the end. The Big Ten outside of Michigan State isn't looking that good right now. Ohio State with Turner back is going to be tough. Purdue and Wisconsin missing key players and it shows. Other than those 4 teams the Big Ten isn't that impressive. Illinois was 4-0 in conference, they got a slap in the face frrom Michigan State, and they also have a lose to Bradley from what conference the Missouri Valley.

I think some of you UNI fans have little man syndrome.  So what if some of the media hasn't recongnized your 16 wins.

You can debate your wins all you want, but when it comes to GP's Top 25 and one rankings, don't cry foul. Just look at the last 2 ranked teams on GP's ballot. Butler and Northwestern have better wins and only good losses to show for their ranking.  Whereas, UNI has one really bad loss in DePaul and some pretty good wins (@ Iowa St. and MO State).

Just relish the fact that UNI is playing well and getting some home wins.  If they start winning the tougher conference games on the road, then you can start pounding your chests and calling people haters.

UNI is probably in the top 35 teams right now, so it might not be long before you get the valuable recognition you want.

Ok UNI has a lost to DePaul in November, when DePaul still had Mac Kroshwal. That is the same DePaul team that only lost to Tennessee by 4 points. For your comment about no quality wins is Siena not 32nd in the CBS RPI. It wasn't just a win over Siena but a victory by 17 points. UNI also has the only non-conference victory at a Big 12 team. Your going to say that Iowa State isn't that good. However state will finish with 10 wins in the Big 12. I think you should do a little research before you dismiss a team, and actually watch games other than those involving Big 6 conference teams.

BigNav, that is sort of fair but not really because if you have never seen a team play, he is basing his decision to omit them from the computers not from his own "expert" knowledge and if he is going to do that, who needs 'em, just let the computers do the work.Hair jokes are tough for me since I'm as bald as Gilligan when the detergent The Professor made for them made their hair fall out.  I will say this though, from his photo Parrish looks like he is auditioning for Season 2 of the Jersey Shore, Over-Gelled hair and a tan to beat all tans.  Parrish, you need a cool nickname like "The Situation" on Jersey Shore.  Its all in good fun, I know he has to have tough skin to put his opinions out on the internet for all to see and can't see everyone play.  I just have to promote my Mid Major school because it seems if we don't, no one else will.  We are proud of our Panthers and I know its a long season and anything can happen but so far they seem like the real deal and no matter where you are playing 16-1, 15 straight is pretty good.  GO PANTHERS!!!!!
