My top three for Player of the Year

Posted on: February 3, 2010 2:32 pm

I just turned in my updated Player of the Year rankings to Michael Rothstein of AnnArbor.com.

He's conducting a media survey every few weeks.

The latest results will be out tomorrow.

My ballot looked like this:
  1. John Wall (Kentucky)
  2. Evan Turner (Ohio State)
  3. Wesley Johnson (Syracuse)

My top three for Player of the Year

I don't think Scheyer can still be in the conversation for Player of the Year. He's a good, consistent player who plays with heart and passion every year, but the only reason he was in the mix ever was that he had a couple stellar games against mediocre teams.  I think to be player of the year, you need either to dominate games regularly (like JJ Redick used to do) or at least serve in a couple clutch situations, which Scheyer has never done.  I agree that Scottie Reynolds and Sherron Collins fit that description (more so maybe than Parrish's picks) and should definitely be in the mix.  That all being said, I love Scheyer's game and I wish he could stay another year at Duke to play the 2 next to Kyrie and Seth Curry.

My top three for Player of the Year

I like the 3 Players of the year but I do not know how you leave Sherron Collins of Kansas off. Kentucky still wins without Wall and Syracuse does as well without Johnson. Turner is underrated and definitely should be there.

My top three for Player of the Year

No surprise, since you selected Wall as POY before he ever played a college game, but ... what would it take to get you OFF the Wall bandwagon?  And where are Scottie Reynolds and Jon Scheyer (my own top two, FWIW) in your estimate?
