Michael Rothstein of AnnArbor.com has posted the results of his second Player of the Year poll.

Click this link to check it out.

Forty-eight college basketball writers -- myself included -- listed our top three in order.

My top three were:
  1. John Wall (Kentucky)
  2. Evan Turner (Ohio State)
  3. Wesley Johnson (Syracuse)
And that's exactly the order of the top three of the poll.

Wall got 25 first-place votes while Turner got 18.

Scottie Reynolds (Villanova) and Damion James (Texas) rounded out the top five.

Sherron Collins (Kansas) -- with one first-place vote -- was sixth.

Turner gaining on Wall in POY race

Has anybody bothered to check Wall's SEC stats?  He hasn't even been the best PG in SEC play to this point.  Downey at SC has a higher effective FG percentage, a much lower TO rate, more than doubles Wall's steal rate, and dwarfs Wall's points per minute.  Likewise, Erving Walker at UF has a much higher effective FG percentage, a higher assist rate, a lower TO rate, a higher steal rate, and higher points per minute.  Cousins has clearly been the leading candidate for SEC POY on Wall's own team.  Being the best player in your conference ought to be a prerequisite for national POY, not to mention the best player on your own team.

yes.  And while I don't agree with them, I would bet they watch more than you, unless your unemployed and single.

Turner gaining on Wall in POY race

The POY should go to someone that transcends the game - if you looked back at that season from a distance, he would be the most remarkable.  On that basis, Wall and Turner are logical at #1 and #2.  However, if I could take only one person to start a team, it would be Cousins.

Turner gaining on Wall in POY race

All I want to know is who are the idiots who didn't bother putting wall (4 of them) and turner (14of them) in their top 3.  Do they even bother to watch college basketball?
