Ohio State's Evan Turner Tweeted moments after the game went final.

Big Ten title is up for grabs!

Yes it is, Evan.

And how did we get here?

Michigan State was 9-0 in the Big Ten and in possession of a three-game lead in the league standings just five days ago. But the Spartans lost at Wisconsin on Tuesday and at Illinois late Saturday, and now the Big Ten is, like Turner said, up for grabs. There's essentially a four-way tie for second considering Wisconsin, Purdue, Illinois and Ohio State all have three league losses, and that three-game lead Michign State owned is now just a one-game lead heading into Tuesday's showdown with Purdue.

And Kalin Lucas still has a bad ankle.

Which is obviously at the root of what's happening.

I won't go so far as to say Michigan State would've won at Wisconsin if not for Lucas' injury because, well, I don't believe that. But I do think it's fair to suggest the Spartans would be at little risk to lose the Big Ten title if not for Lucas' sprained ankle. As it is, there's a real risk, and these next few weeks are going to be wild.

Michigan State is 9-2.

Wisconsin and Illinois are 8-3.

Purdue and Ohio State are 7-3.

"Big Ten title is up for grabs," Tweeted Turner.

Yes it is, Evan.

Now let's see who grabs it.

MSU's loss means Big Ten is 'up for grabs'

Wisconsin has already played all of the "top teams" on the road with the exception of Illinois.  That's where their conference losses came from.  They should have the easiest road left of any of the contenders.

MSU's loss means Big Ten is 'up for grabs'

Um, I believe the title of my Post of January 31 was "Big Ten Title is Up for Grabs!" it read:

"The Big Ten has devided itself into upper and lower divisions. Michigan State appears (more later) to be the dominate team with Purdue, Wisconsin, Ohio State and Illinois jammed up for the second spot. The other six teams are below the mark in conference Win - Loss record. The Spartans appear to have locked up first place with a 3 game lead but appearances can be deceiving. They have won 2 games against the teams tied for second and both of those at home. They have 5 contests left against the other top Big Ten teams, hosting the Ohio State University Buckeyes for thier only matchup this season, home and away against Purdue's Boilmakers and giving the Wisconsin's Badgers and the Illinois University thier shot for revenge.

The Big Ten Title is up for grabs!"

Way to stay a week behind the obvious Parrish.

MSU's loss means Big Ten is 'up for grabs'

So far OSU and Purdue are the only two of the top five that have beaten a top five team on their court, away from home.

Purdue at Illinois

OSU at Purdue

Since Purdue lost to OSU at home they have to get that win back at OSU, who are 14-0 at home.  Tough task.

So OSU have done the best job against the top five.

But you have to also win against the bottom six.  That's not always a given as every away game is tough in the Big Ten.

Counting your chickens before they're hatched is a recipe for getting your fanny whipped unexpectedly.  It is going to be a scramble.

MSU's loss means Big Ten is 'up for grabs'

Wisconsin is great at home, but can they grab a big road win against the top teams? What Wisconsin has going for them is that they already have already played their two games against Michigan State, Ohio State, and Purdue.  The series with Illinois, and an away game at Minnesota are their toughest hurdles.  Illinois, Ohio State, Purdue, and Michigan State all have tough games coming up... Wisconsin is set to run the table.  That being said, Wisconsin can be unpredictable at time;  although they have a relatively easy schedule remaining, they could very well drop a game or two.  Based on the remaining schedule, however, Wisconsin is in the best position to claim the title.

I think Illinois is over acheiving and will fall off the pace.

MSU still has a tough schedule and Lucas might struggle when he first returns.

Wisconsin is great at home, but can they grab a big road win against the top teams?

Purdue has two shots at the Spartans to skip over them.

But I'm really afraid of OSU.  If they can keep it together, they can sneak past everyone.

Then we get to do it all over come the Big Ten Tournament!

Good times for Big Ten fans.
