The top four seems simple to me

The top four of Sunday's Top 25 (and one) will be easy to figure out.
  1. Kansas
  2. Kentucky
  3. Syracuse
  4. Purdue
Those would also be the No. 1 seeds in the NCAA touranment if the NCAA tournament started today.

It doesn't start today, of course.

But can you believe we're just three weeks from Selection Sunday?

The top four seems simple to me

As a Duke fan, I am sad to say at this point I agree with Gary's assessment.  Purdue is on a hot streak, but Mich state is also on the decline.  Nova will take another loss, kansas state will probably lose to kansas again.  Cuse could falter, but with only 2 losses they are pretty comfortable right now.  Purdue's # 1 seed is theirs to lose, because Duke looks like they will be running through the rest of the season and tourney.

'Nova would be 5+ point favorites to beat Purdue, K State, or Duke on a neutral court.  The four best teams should be the #1 seeds, and KU, UK, SU, and 'Nova are a clear cut above everyone else.

What in the great game of basketball did you base this astoundingly wrong post on.  Couldn't be record( Purdue 23-3), couldn't be current play (Purdue on a 9 game winnings streak).  Couldn't be record against the top 25 (purdue is 5-1).  Couldn't be record against the top 10 (Purdue is 4-0).  In all of these categories Purdue is better than Nova.  Parrish has the top 4 right, the order doesn't matter that will play out in the next 3 weeks.  As with anything Nova will prove itself the lesser team on the floor and by the time the tounament is here they will be placed as a 2 seed as they deserve.

Sorry, don't see your argument. Where are your facts...is this all opinion? KU and UK are easy picks..... why Cuse and Nova?

I agree Cuse deserves it with what 2 loses, but Nova just got beat by UCONN and Pitt this week... they are going to fall back and this week didn't look like a #1 seed. I think you are dismissing too many teams right now becuase of the name of the school. I think Cuse will probably handle Nova, but I hope it's a great game to watch.

It'll be really unfair to Kentucky or Kansas if they get stuck in a bracket with Villanova as a two seed.

Why?  Villanova is probably the weakest link of the teams currently being touted as contenders.  They don't have a post game.  Have you watched them play?  Patterson and Cousins would annihilate Pena/King.  Kentucky would win by double digits.  K-State or Georgetown would be a much, much tougher draw for the 'Cats.

By the way, the tournament (and its seeding) isn't about rewarding teams for good seasons.  It's about identifying and crowning a national champion.  If Kentucky, or Kansas, is the best, they should have to prove it by beating other elite squads like Villanova and Purdue.  That's the point.

Undeserving???? Seriously a horrible choice of words. In college basketball nothing comes easy after a 30+ game schedule and to be at the top after all of that you call it being undeserving? How biased are you really. Why don't we just let the season play out before you throw crap around.....BTW I would welcome playing Nova in a bracket.....I'll let you guess why.

As a Boiler fan, please stop trying to put Purdue higher in the rankings. There is NO obvious difference between the top 4 teams that Gary mentioned and I think it would be a smash-mouth and fantastic final four with these 4 teams. When Syracuse did lose to L-ville @ home he didn't knock them down, but I am sure he had his reasons.......Did you Gary? Was it because Rick P pretty much owns Syracuse?

What teams not mentioned are closest to making that 1 seed line should one of these falter down the stretch?
Nova, Kansas State, and WV?

I think this is a great question. If one of the top 4 teams where to faulter dramatically down the stretch who would be there to replace them.

Duke is the team most likely to earn a number one seed not among Gary's 4.  Might even have a better shot than Syracuse or Purdue, to be honest.  Both of those teams still have to survive very difficult regular seasons before entering the bare knuckle brawl that will be the Big East Tourney and a Big Ten tourney featuring dangerous squads shooting for a protected seed in Michigan State, Ohio State, Wisconsin, and Illinois, not to mention bubble teams like Marquette and Minnesota playing for NCAA bids.

And, i think you answered it dead on. Villinova would probably be one of the teams in prime position along with possibly K-State. However, because of the points you made Duke is sitting very pretty in the ACC this year with no fault of their own. Duke is very good, but when your second and third best team this year rest with Wake Forest (who is improving) and Maryland then it's a little easieer to expect to go unbeaten down the stretch. I think you were very objective in talking about both the BigEast and Big10, because let's face it these two conferences along with the Big12 it doesn't get any tougher. These three conferences hold majority of the big dogs and I garuntee could play to the buzzer with one another.

Villanova still has to play at Syracuse, at Pittsburgh, and against West Virginia... teams 1, 2, and 3 in the Big East.  No way they win all three of those.  Could even go oh-fer.

Who's Duke gotta face?  The trip to College Park seems like the biggest potential threat.  Does anyone see a team other than the Devils winning the ACC?
