Oklahoma freshman Keith "Tiny" Gallon received a $3,000 wire transfer from a sports agent before the start of the season, according to a TMZ.com story filed early Thursday.

TMZ.com reported it has in its possession a document showing the transfer came from Jeffrey Hausinger (a Merril Lynch financial adviser who represents professional athletes) and was deposited into an account held by Gallon and his mother, Sylvia Wright. TMZ.com did not publish the document.

Gallon averaged 10.3 points and 7.9 rebounds this season. He was suspended for the Feb. 13 game against Oklahoma State for undisclosed reasons. CBSSports.com, at the time, asked OU coach Jeff Capel if the suspension was because of possible dealings with an agent. Capel said it was not.

An attempt to reach Capel early Thursday was unsuccessful.

First of all, if he is from a low-income family, he can apply for the Pell Grant.  Not only are books, food, and tuition covered, but he can also use that Pell Grant money to do things with.  If his family makes too much to qualify for the Pell Grant, student loans are available.  They are just being selfish and may end up with OU on probation.

University recruit High School athletes.  How many kids would want to go to a University where it is suing its student athletes?

Really?  because KU is so clean?  Please, the championship won by KU should be vacated between ineligible players and sherron (which is well documented how he supposedly got to KU).

We should lose all of the games Gallon played in, what kind of punishment is that, we won 14 games last season and Gallon played in 9. I hate it win games are vacated from any team when it's one or two players fault, without anyone noticing, come on man, there are better punishments!

Well this just really blows. I am a huge Sooner fan and I was really looking forward to next season. The 09-10 season wasn't good for us because of only 2 starters returning and young players having to step up. I knew next season we would do well because the young players would have matured and played better around Cade Davis and Willie Warren, but now I have a very good felling that we won"t be seeing Gallon starting at center! This does kind of reming me of the Darren McFadden incident at Arkansas, only not money but a car.

The kids are being taken advantage of.  They have to practice so much that they are not permitted to have a job while they are playing, yet the schools make tens of millions off of television contracts.  Sure the kids get a free education which is great, but many of them have no spending money while at college and their parents cannot afford to give them any.  Also, there are several dad's that are absent in these homes.  The kid obviously was wrong for taking the money, but I was pretty dumb too when I was 18.

WHat are you talking about, the kids in school have everything taken care of and get money from the school for housing, food, books, and other basic essentials.  If the kid is good enough to go pro, then wait.  If not, then take advantage of the free degree and don't worry about the agent.

Gallon and Capel are both wrong for this issue. This is more trouble that we do not need. Gallon should be dismissed from the team. He has brought more disgrace to a program that was already suffering this past season. This is the worst playing basketball team that I can remember since the 70's.

Apparently you dont know too much about how scholorships work. Allowances are dished out to the student-athletes depending on what kind of scholarship they are on and how . D1 can give up to $250 a week in allowance depending on what your schedule looks like. Amount of practices, weightlifting/ conditioning, etc. So if a college student cannot live off of $200 a week...that is their problem.
